I've heard everything has been agreed upon and all that's missing is his signature. Serna is expected to sign barring some late interest. Dillon apparently played well against Atlanta United. I've been told he played a wingback in 3-5-2. I think the USL Championship is a great landing spot for Dillon. Although selfishly I wish he could have been a part of the Switchbacks remake this off season. Why sit on the pine, play second fiddle on a mediocre / bottom tier MLS team when you can play a pivotal role for a decent playoff contending team in the Championship? Birmingham made the playoffs in the inaugural season and are run by Jay Heaps and I think coach by Tom Soehn. So decent pedigree.
And he may play himself back to MLS and a non-mediocre/bottom tier team -- maybe even the Rapids by then?
Badji scored the winning goal off a header for Nashville against Montreal today. Closed-door scrimmage.
Former youth player Enoch Mushagalusa is signing with SKC II it appears https://www.thebluetestament.com/20...do-rapids-youth-striker-mls-enoch-mushagalusa
I hope he latches on. It will be interesting to see if Enoch's reported talent can translate to the professional game inside the competitive USL Championship. I have not seen Enoch play but I know his name very well and know several coaches that have coached against him. The consensus was that he looked like a man among boys. I wonder if the Rapids expressed any interest. I don't think I have any contact inside the Rapids Academy anymore to find out though.
Interesting reference point. Player not good enough for the Rapids also isn't good enough for either of England's top 2 leagues. MLS roughly equal to England's Championship?
Watched Hull-Swansea on ESPN+ last night while on the exercise bike. Crazy match - 4-4 final and a lot of fun to watch (unless you prefer good team defending) - but MLS teams would have been more than competitive with either of them.
Honestly, the naysayers are really the Euro-sobs on this side of the pond that discredit MLS at every opportunity. Most of English folk I know are coming around to the fact the Championship is on par with MLS.
I just had one on Twitter today who called MLS "shitty football" but then admitted to never having watched a game, but "since its a retirement league" yadda yadda yadda.
We've been hearing that for a long time, though. I think there's a much better case for it now than 10 years ago.
Atlanta scored the first goal against Nashville as Eric Miller was involved in a very Hudsonian defensive play. Barco is alone advancing the ball out in space about 30-40 yards from goal towards the left. He has a man wide on his left Miller is closest to him and the centerback is slightly behind him. Instead of closing space Miller peels away from Barco to go after the wing. The centerback, reading the play, had already started out wide. Barco welcomed the gift of space by lining up a shot to the far post.
Tim Howard: Starting in goal for Memphis. Glad he was able to catch on with someone. https://www.memphis901fc.com/news_article/show/1092573
Reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield working at his club: "What am I sweating for? I own this joint. I got the job."
