For Fan Loyalty Night I Want..... the Peanut Butter and Jelly chingaderra abolished. That's this coming Saturday against Columbus. Just had to rant one last time and I was a bit bored tonight.
*MUCH* more fun for players and fans than autographs, have a game where if you come at 5pm do the following: 1) Setup 5 photo scenes in the bowels of Invesco. 2) Get 10 key starters to participate. 3) Have a fish bowl where season ticket holders (no extras -- one person per account) pick a random name of the 10 key starters to be in a photo. Perhaps RSVP prior to event to ensure you can handle demand. All fans sign a release for Rapids to use their likeness at will. 4) Starter asks fan how they want the photo taken (nothing lewd -- or not... ). Ball, net, flag, whistle, and other pertinent props available. 5) Digital photographer takes picture and immediately prints result to be inserted into a poster-card frame. 60 seconds allocated per fan for setup time and taking picture. With 5 scenes, you'll process 150 fans in 30 minutes. Have a few suggested poses for fans who don't care (or can't make up their minds). 6) Digital pictures are shown during halftimes for amusement purposes and possibly used in future promotional advertisements. 7) Strict cutoff time of 5:30 or 5:45 (first come season ticket holders, first served *or* RSVP with ticket required) so they can get mentally prepared for match that night. 8) Invite media to attend event. 9) Serve drinks/dogs/burgers in club area during/after photo session for thanks for being a season ticket holder (invite all) and have a video feed on TVs showing photo shoot progress or a rotation of photos when event is complete. Talk about a GREAT incentive for fans to be season ticket holders, a GREAT way to have a real connection with the players, a GREAT way to show Denver how much fun it is being a Rapids season ticket holder, and a really funny media event (especially for TV) that sells the product (have the sports announcer for all 5 newscasts participate -- WB, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX). Just a silly idea...nevermind...
Great idea! I think the Rapids having more fan interaction is one of the keys to getting more season ticket holders. Taking the marginal, couple games a year fans and giving them even more incentive to be a season ticket holder.
I want a Rapids mouse pad, or a freezer mug (The Disney one I'm using just cracked). Those flying cars sound good too...
