Not entirely sure but, I think Old Trafford (Man. Utd. pitch) was classified as one.

Here're some of the five-star stadiums in Europe (unfortunately, I wasn't able to track down a list of all 12):

    1) Nou Camp, Barcelona, Spain
    2) Montjuic Olympic Stadium, Barcelona, Spain
    3) Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland
    4) Ibrox Park, Glasgow, Scotland
    5) Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales
    6) Old Trafford, Manchester, England
    7) De Kuip, Rotterdam, Netherlands
    8) Amsterdam Arena, Amsterdam, Netherlands
    9) Ernst Happel Stadium, Vienna, Austria
    10) Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Russia
    11) ??
    12) ??

Vicente Calderon Stadium, Madrid, Spain, is slated to be classified "five star" by UEFA in Nov. 2002

Olympic Stadium, Berlin, Germany is currently undergoing extensive renovation so that it too will be "five star" by the time WC 2006 rolls around

    You're correct.

I ran a Google search and it turns out Glasgow has 3 "five star" stadia: Celtic Park, Ibrox Stadium, and Hampden Park.

A summary of the requirements is at the bottom of this page describing Rotterdam's 5 star stadium, De Kuip:

Other then the 50,000 seats, I think the depot in la would have to meet those criteria.

Well, I don't debate that it does sound like Invesco, but I'm not sure how many other NFL stadiums would fit the bill.

I guarantee you that the old soldier field would not.

    Atmosphere

To me, a best staduim comes from the overall atmosphere. It doesn't have to be the biggest or the most expensive. It's how well the fans get behind their team and support. The music, the flares, the dancing, the chanting. All that good stuff. But of course, FIFA doesn't concern this. :)

    Re: Atmosphere

well that is other thing... FIFA gives the 5-star quality for the quality of the venue... the respect about the atmosfere is made by the fans themselves... really... if an atmosfere in a match is great it will be knowed around the world... most of the people knows that the MILAN/INTER fans are one of the bests fans
