The Clash. London Calling. On (I shit you not) 8-track. Still have it. Still play it for the hell of it on my mom's still-functioning console stereo once a year or so.
First coming? If so, you're showing your age. Mine was 45 of 'Do they Know it's Christmas?' - Band Aid. Mum bought it but it was my Christmas money.
I have it too. I avoided "We Are the World" though. A bit too cheezy. I think the 1st cassette I bought was "The Clash" and then bought all the rest of The Clash catalogue on cassette. Still have them in a box somewhere.
I think my first CD was either Poison's "Flesh & Blood" or Public Enemy's "Apocalypse '91... the Enemy Strikes Black" Either way, my mother was thrilled.
The Adam and the Ants album that had "Goody Two Shoes" on it, don't remember the name of the record. Proud? No.
I know it wasn't "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" or "Arena" cuz I got those both as gifts...It may have been "Rio" but it had been out for years by then.
I'm almost positive it was a 45 of King Tut by Steve Martin. Or maybe Freak Out by Chic. The first LP I bought was a gift for my sister. Bee Gees Live.
I think the first album I bought with my own money was either the "Star Wars" soundtrack or "Magical Mystery Tour" by the Beatles. "London Calling" on 8-track?!? -Wow!
