I'll start this one. What say you? I'm hardly optimistic for anything.

    Beat me to it! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sad thing is I thought to myself as I was getting dressed, "Oh, I have to make the game day thread early today, as I meetings in the afternoon."

I didn't vote "recliner" as I teach my last "live" class tonight, so I may make it home for the second half.

Probably won't be worth the time at that point

I figured I'd start the thread since I've been up since 3AM or so. So I only got a jump because I couldn't fall back asleep.

If anyone wants my two free tickets let me know and I’ll send them over. Section 111 row 17 - can’t make it tonight and won’t be able to watch.

I believe there will be more rubber dicks in attendance than fans. Cuypers scores? Frank puts us in a 4-2-3-1 with Herbers as part of the double pivot alongside Acosta and we face 439,000 shots after looking pretty good for the first 10 minutes. That’s more like it.

I would say watch any match from this season (except the Montreal match) to help you sleep, but the opposite would happen, as rage watching sets in.

    That's NOT worrying.
    That is refreshing.

Do we really want to know about the match!?!

Expecting 4-2-3-1 that flexes 4-4-2 to 'save Shaq's legs'
    upload_2024-5-15_11-9-32.png upload_2024-5-15_11-20-49.png
After watching the STL replay, it's clear Acosta and Herbers don't work well together...the first goal was a major mistake by Acosta doinking the ball away from Fabi (who was clearly going to step through with control and move the ball outside).

    Ideas....
    1) If Gimenez can go, he needs to be *the* CDM, call it a 4-3-3 (with Kellyn on left like he was at LAFC), give Omari the start and bring Shaq in for whoever sucks the most. This XI could start the game 'dynamically' and easily shift to the 'expected formation' with Shaq coming in for Fabi, Guti, or Omari.
    upload_2024-5-15_11-12-16.png

    2) If Gaston can't go, put Fabi in his best role (super sub), give Acosta *the* sole CDM responsibilities...and then it's a tough pic for the second central attacking midfielder, that will also play D? Probably Shaq for 30min (have him focus on the assist of the assist). Then Fabi or Koutsias to run around.
    upload_2024-5-15_11-13-50.png

    3) 3-5(M)-2. Make Shaq the second striker, Pineda the stopper and Acosta box to box CM. Needs Rafa to be good to go, but I like the idea of Pineda being the anchor. Acosta would need to play his best game for us.

Did I miss one that could be coming tonight? Or one you wished Frank would roll out?

I wanted to add that believe me but the best options are Rubber Dick, Malort and Raccoon. Prove me wrong.

Just glancing at your post reminds me of playing Football Manager 2003/04 (and that's saying something)

I read these to posts together (not reading Redmaynard's post in between).
    I liked it.

Really, setting up a Windows machine should take no time...unlike 20 years ago.
I bought a new (well, refurb) laptop last summer and the set up took less than 15 minutes, plus about 10 minutes to install MS Office.
It was very quick and efficient...which probably means I screwed something up.

It wasn't a problem but OS wise I've been on FreeBSD, Mac OS and Linux for ages. Only bought this gaming laptop for giggles as the price was just right. I'd rather be using Win 10 though rather than 11.

Those poll options are too optimistic.

Pete (is working up the gumption to actually drive to this game)

Maybe I will watch tonight. I will have it on my second screen. Good news is that I have plenty of alcohol to numb myself. Watching the Fire makes me numb these days. I can't get excited or angry anymore. I have to work tomorrow so maybe just a beer or two.

Same formation, but different players. I'm guessing Shaq is the second forward unless they are going back to 4-2-3-1. This is probably as close to the best 11 players on the field that are available.
