With a few exceptions, the chants you hear at PPL Park are the same you'll hear anywhere in the league.
It made sense in year one when everything was starting off from scratch, I guess it was my hope that by year five the majority of chants would become original (or at least unique to MLS). Oh well.
Not all of them are MLS recycled. Hey Ref SOMB and Hey Casey F*** Someone Up are heard only at PPL and clearly show how creative we can be.
Not true. I heard my 11 year old yell the SOMB "cheer" after a bad call by a (14 year old) ref at my other son's U8 game in April. The U8 game was not at PPL Park. I can't tell you how pleased my wife was with my son, with me, with the SOBs and with the Union for not preventing that "Union original" from being yelled at games.
I'm really surprised there has not been a campaign from the team to cut it out, like there was with YSA. I've heard parents around me shout 'Hey, ref, stop the bad calls' but I don't think the kids are buying it.
