How many shots on goal has the US given up? Iran had a grand total of ONE shot on goal. Actual goals > xG
And as of now, they're one of only two teams to do that (the other is Brazil). Pretty nice achievement, and one that Berhlater should get a lot of credit for given who his center backs are.
i have no grounds to question anyone elses match, but we just saw no goal differential in 2 out of 3, so if you carry the 1...
nice to see the folks who were questioning the heart of the young players celebrate Berhalter after his first really good half.
OK, to not be totally negative the US did so-so this WC GS and got expected results more or less with the team we have on paper. But seeing Japan, Australia, Costa Rica, and Tunisia I thought the US could've done better and get 2 wins instead of just one meager one by 1-0. So I'll give Gregg a passing grade like a B- or C+ to be kind, but he doesn't get an A for the results.
It's hard to say when important traditional powers like Germany, Italy, Denmark, and Sweden are all eliminated. The truth is that Pacific Rim countries are quickly catching up and that includes the US.
Name another US coach with his talent pool stop. We have never had this many dynamic players in the midfield or forward areas. Musah was wanted by two different countries but chose us (credit to greg where its due) Adams is going to be moving from leeds on the back of this season and wc, weston plays in champions league games for the biggest team in italy, weston stayed at Juve while they moved on ramsey because they think he is terrible and old. This is nuts stuff that people thing Greg is some sort of tactical genius for beating Iran 1 - 0 and tying wales. Wales had a guy playing in the midfield that plays for a league 1 side. Irans back up goalkeeper was a shepherd before a profressional soccer player. We left a guy at home who played for manchester city.
The three other teams in CONCACAF went 2W-1T-6L with -14 GD. Would the US* qualify out of any region thT isnt CONCACAF? Most of the other qualifying processes require teams to win on the road. *coached by the current scared, defensive coach that loves MLS players
Hansi Flick is a better tactical coach than Berhalter. He got most of the credit for Low's successes, absolutely KILLED it at Bayern to an absurd degree, and a more talented German team is out. People should all just enjoy the Cup.
I insist MLS is a waste of space and has done nothing good for soccer's growth but I get called a troll. Thank you for hammering the message and continuing to call out MLS's abysmal quality as we're seeing it exposing itself to the world.
You guys crack me up Germany is out, Belgium is out, Denmark is out. You guys can keep being all butt hurt that Berhalter is still the coach but that doesn't change the fact that all the teams in the World Cup are good, they all have good players, and the coaches are all good. I don't even understand your points anymore. You hate the coach. Ok. So what?
Nah, that's someone's alt account that was literally created 2-3 days ago just to post the most inflammatory stuff possible. Not sure why it hasn't been red carded yet.
So you want to censor anyone who tells the truth and asks hard questions on why US soccer is stuck in perpetual mediocrity? So far the GS of this WC has really opened my eyes how bad and far behind the US is compared to the top teams in the world and all the non-traditional countries are improving except us.
It's as if someone got really, really pissed that we beat Iran or something. I don't know, just guessing.
