With the US being ranked in the top 10 by FIFA for the first time, it is getting soem nice press from all corners. ESPN.com had it on the front page, Cobi interview on ESPNews, Wilbon brought it up on PTI and countless others. While those in the soccer community loathe to put much value in these rankings, it seems these rankings are just the thing to get the non soccer sports press to cover and respect our team. It seems all the backstreet boys marketing is nothign compared to a top 10 ranking. Just another small step for soccerkind.
Shhh...dont tell anyone that the rankings are compiled by Sepp Blatter's pet monkey throwing poo at a dart board.
Re: Re: Finally, something the American public and latch on to Funny! Even so, good press is good press! It even got some coverage down here in this soccer-news wasteland!
Re: Re: Finally, something the American public and latch on to Actually, it's a strict (if flawed) mathematical formula. We'd all be interested to hear of your ideas to reform it, on one of the countless threads dedicated to the topic.
Re: Re: Re: Finally, something the American public and latch on to Actually, I couldnt give a monkeys (pun intended) about the rankings - flawed or not. We have a way of determining the best team on earth every four years. If they put US Soccer in the headlines - fair enough then.
