So far Ecuador's Luis Antonio Valencia has a very comfortable lead. He has got 1/3 of the votes, deservingly leaving Rooney, Messi and C Ronaldo is his wake! as an ecuadorian i couldnt be more happy. but he also does deserve to lead as he played a valuable role in our offence and defence continualy being a pest to our opponents by dispossesing them with ease and getiing into dangerous areas leaving defenders for dead. thank you everyone for voting our luis!!! ARRIBA ECUADOR!:D

Valencia has played a very good tournament. I'm pretty sure Recreativo de Huelva are going to have offers for him after the WC.

I hear Recreativo want to keep Valencia for one more season atleast. I wonder what Villarreal have to say about that.

Maybe they agree. Recreativo is in the first division now where Valencia can get more experience, and Villarreal already have Cani and Pires.

If that is the case it will be a great opportunity to grow as a player pretty quick taking in consideration that he will be in all the important game. Perhaps he will be ready for a much bigger team for 2007? However, I could see him trying to play in Villareal this year as well and I am sure offers will show up after the tournament.

    I say Torres..

At a mere 22 years old, he's scored 3 goals in 2 games. That's not too shabby...and he also has a pretty good way with the ball, and clears out various shots, even though most get blocked.

Someone has rigged that vote, no way he gets all those votes, most novice fans never even heard of him.

anything chosen by fans is stupid, its like the allstar game in the nhl where the fans picked the players --> two guys on the internet voted for the same average player like 30,000 times or something to get him in......this award would gain legitimacy if it was picked by coaches or players........

but also, i mean they should wait till the tournament is over to see who the best young player was......
