I think the Saudi's are getting punished for the foolishness of their FA... Sending all of their starters out on loan to Europe in Jan to rot on the bench? Sacking BvM after qualifying for the WC? Eesh. What else did they expect?
They have a few good technical players, but as you have seen in the first half their defense is utter garbage..
We've been punished with 3 years wasted under Stielike, and we're now being punished for another 6 months or so under Shin Tae-yong.
i genuinely think some of the defenders have been paid off. that second goal -- the one defender intentionally did not clear the ball when he had a chance. they're garbage but not THAT garbage.
Watching Saudi v Russia, and it appears we've got some hefty competition for "worst team in the World Cup." But don't worry, guys! I believe we can do it!
we're worse than Saudis, aren't we? In the early minutes of the first half, they didn't look bad, especially going forward (and keeping possession in tight spaces) EDIT: Btw, I expect minimum 4 goal concede vs. Germany. In fact, I'm bracing myself for potential 0-6 loss. Germany put 4 goals past far stronger teams.
I hope Korea doesn't try possession football. Just avoiding that mistake of the Saudis would help not get slaughtered.
Truly embarrassing defending from the Saudi CB. Simply could not mark his man and gets out-muscled for the easiest headed third goal for Russia. Lol... If we only saw KSW push around defenders like Dzubya just did...
The record is 10 goals conceded in a WC match, set by El Salvador in 1982. That is one World Cup record we can strive for. It would go well with our existing records for most goals conceded in a tournament, and worst tournament goal differential. It could be like a tribute to the 1954 team.
Saudis bottling it just like they have in every previous world cup that they've been in... Truly horrific stuff.
This just shows how crucial managers become for weaker team in the WC. Saudi players are slow, technically very deficient, and lacks any individual talent, and Bert knew this and basically resorted to a unattractive but efficient counterattacking football.
Why does Saudi Arabia remind me of KNT? That's not a good thing because Saudi just got sh*t on by Russia 5-0.
The players don't even seem to be aware of their positional role. At least for in our team, we could see that players were trying to remedy their sh*tty tactics and formation, like Koo covering for Lee Yong, to avoid getting pummelled down the wings.
Saudi Arabia was either bribed Or They really underestimated their enemy. Should parked the park like they usually do against us.
