Well day 1 of this is almost done. It's funny, I haven't been this happy about something so unrelated to me since... well since a good football tournament for Brazil.

Eager to see how this expands (and it will, as pointed out above and by others, these people will tell on others, they won't want to take the fall on their own). Already Teixeira is implicated by the Nike contract according to Hawilla (although not by name yet, his name is implied). Friday is FIFA's election, I would love to see the Swiss investigation result in some arrests before then but we'll see. This is going to be a long process and it won't fix the world of football on its own nor should this be seen as an attempt to do that, but it will be fun to watch.

Yep. They said he received I think 45 mil Reais with the Nike contract of 96.

I present to you the next sponsor of the Selecao ... :D

So what are the chances this is just the push on the wheel that will unravel a lot of the perception we have of these organizations? We know the Swiss are conducting their own investigation as well. USA may not go as far as we'd wish but would they open a can of worms for other world justice organizations to investigate?

Isn't he supposed to vote Friday? I wonder if he's afraid the Swiss authorities are about to act. I hope they are, would love to see them do something on the day of the election.

Of course he could just be scared and wants to go back to Brazil to feel more in control of things and it doesn't mean much, but who knows.

I agree. Man is senator now, not a footballer anymore. So when will he start pressing for better schools and hospital facilities?

I hope he does so before moving up to governor. Let's hope he won't be the first president elected of the republic solely based on a football manifesto. :p

    Lol....

    good point there

no proof can't argue about that, but sure your point is something that demands some deep thinking!

we tend to forget that FIFA WC is a business in the end of the day. And the highest bidder takes it all.

Hopefully we will take this scandal and add this to fuel the fire like Italy did in WC's '82 and '06, to win the Copa America!!

He knew that it was a matter of time before the investigations by the FBI unearthed evidence linking him to the corruption he's supposedly innocent of.

As for Del Nero, it's what Romário said - it's too bad it wasn't Brazilian law enforcement who arrested Marin. It'd be great if it occurred and was followed by a trial and a sentencing.

I agree; the evidence released after the election has basically led to Blatter. That is what has changed since the last 4 days and resulted in this.

If Del Nero steps down, I don't think I'll be able to contain myself at work. I almost let out a yell here about Blatter. It would have been nice if Brazilian enforcement took care of Marin, but that's a pipe dream. I never imagined what has happened these last few weeks to even happen. Thanks, USA!!
