FIFA 12 sales way up in the US

FIFA Soccer 12 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the one game to be in its final week before launch. The PlayStation 3 version is at number 12 as it adds 28,000 pre-orders for a grand total of 227,000. Last year’s version only had 44,000 pre-orders with first week sales in the Americas at 97,000. Expect this year’s version to sell in the 250,000 to 300,000 unit range in the Americas.

The Xbox 360 version is at number 15 as it adds 47,000 pre-orders for a final total of 194,000. Last year’s version only had 59,000 pre-orders with first week sales in the Americas at 101,000. Expect this year’s version to sell in the 225,000 to 275,000 unit range in the Americas.

The article says "in the Americas." This means more than just US. This could just as well mean that more Latin Americans with a pre-existing interest in soccer are now rich enough to afford Fifa.
