Feuer signs with... [part 1] Tranmere Rovers for a whopping one week. With substitute keeper Keith Welch, who was called in to replace suspended keeper John Achterberg, injured and out for tomorrow's match against Colchester, Ian may actually get some PT. Let's hope there's reason for a "Part 2" thread sometime next week.
12 caps? Where did they get that info? According to my handy-dandy media guide, he has a whopping total of...one.
Well, he's another "Giant American", so his one cap probably equals 12 of the caps for normal sized players.
Oops! My prior post should have said "good one" in respnose to Bird's post. The "1 post every 60 seconds rule" kinda messed me up.
Re: Feuer signs with... [part 1] According to Soccernet the Giant American gets the start in today's match! Maybe we should add an R to the title of this thread, since it is now discussing actual Ian Feuer game play.
1-1 - I'd say not too bad for a guy who just signed a one-week contract. On a completely unrelated note, looking down the list of games and scorers from today's Second Division action, a guy named Danny Invincible scored 2 goals for Swindon. How cool a name is that? "Hi there. I'm Mr. Invincible. First name Danny."
Feuer signs with Tranmere/v. Colchester 9/13 (R) "Tranmere's home fans registered their disappointment at the final whistle. Yet they had good reason to be grateful to American goalkeeper Ian Feuer for making two crucial saves in the final 10 minutes. The 6ft 6ins giant is currently on a brief, one-week contract with Tranmere that finishes after the weekend, but he made a valuable contribution and created a favourable impression with this performance." Liverpool Daily Post Match Report
Any updates on the American giant? He is still listed with Tranmere. http://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/stats/view/player_profiles/0,,10365~8074,00.html
I just heard from somebody close to Ian (Yeah, I know that sounds like "a friend of a friend of a...") that he's been called back for a third time by Arsenal for them to have a look at him and that Tottenham has contacted him as well.
Well, those two clubs do have keeping needs currently. But at Arsenal, he'd be #3 behind Seaman and Taylor, and at Spurs he'd fight Hirschfeld for the #2 spot.
Well it wouldn't be a very good fight as Hirschfeld is actually good, even if young. As for Feuer, his main attributes is that he is giant and, mainly, always available. Both of those sides would empty the piggy banks before they had to use Fuer in any signifincant number of meaningful games.
Trial with Arsenal!?! http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/020827/21/d89rj.html Apparently, Feurer is on trial with Arsenal.
Feuer to Arsenal???? Check out the bottom of this story and gasp at the lunacy of Feuer being at Premiership winners Arsenal. http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=105037&Title=Seaman+hindering+Arsenal+keeper+capture
I don't even know what can be said about that. I do wonder when the first "Fire Arena because he's not playing Arsenal's keeper" thread appears.
