It appears that Hamburg have hit a rough spot with injuries, Van der Vaart now going down. Where does this put Benny? Any chance he'll get a start in the next few weeks? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/soccer/08/29/bc.eu.spt.soc.hamburg.van.ap/index.html
Speaking of which, what's Benny's injury status? The last I heard, he apparently had to be subbed out of the HSV II match this past weekend due to injury...
The HSV website "Young Talents", Bennys current team, doesnt seem to be up and running this season like it was last season so I dont know where to get news on that team.
Jarolim will be out 4-6 weeks due to a hairline fracture in his left lower arm- Van der Vaart has a cracked quadriceps (or whatever you call it in English). He could be out for only 4 weeks or as longs as 10 weeks, they are not sure yet.
V.d. Vaart's thigh problem will reportedly keep him out for about two months. Also Benjamin and Demel are suspended. Time for Benny to make the move up to the first team.
With the next game being in the cup against a regionaliga side, it seems a perfect time for his debut.
Just trying to consider a few factors that could determine where Feilhaber might play, should he get the opportunity. Lately he has been playing left mid with the 2nd team, but that position looks to be taken by Rafael Wicky. And with today's signing of Juan Pablo Sorin the competition only gets tougher (that is if Sorin is not played in defense). De Jong seems to have d-mid locked up, too. Jarolim was playing on the right side of midfield with van der Vaart playing centrally and more advanced, just behind the two strikers. Benny has played in both those roles with HSV II so it will probably come down to one of them, but I'm leaning towards right mid. Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed.
In English, the quadriceps are a group of four muscles that sit on the front of the thigh. Having them "cracked" would be an interesting thing to see. Perhaps you meant "pulled".
or torn? (much more serious, probably out for months) or strained (not as serious, week to week). Given the length of the expected time down, I'd guess either badly pulled or not to badly torn.
