Let's get it started. Press conference this week to announce the club and it's plans. If... this team calls the true NYC as home, then this club will be massive.
Press conference is Wednesday.... follow live on Twitter : Borough_Boys and on our official message boards: http://www.boroughboys.proboards.com we're not sure whats going on with the venues yet. We're assuming they will be playing games at Hofstra, Icahn, and Baker field... our mission as supporters is to prove to the owners that playing most or all of their games in the city would be beneficial. Everyone who wants to help with this push, please contact the Borough Boys and get involved, don't wait for this team to be shaped by the owners, flex your muscle and let these owners know what you want from their club.
I know you can't rely on wikipedia but they were right in Rowdies example: The rumor of Cosmo reappearance was once again came up on March 13, 2009 when it was reported New York City would be an expansion franchise in 2010 from the USL First Division. The team leaders hope purchasing the rights to a USL First Division franchise will lead to eventual expansion in Major League Soccer in 2012
That the team is going to be announced tomorrow is a fact. I was referring to the team being called COSMOS.
Sincerely Chris the Cosmos name remember me a soccer team that played in NEW JERSEY from 1977 to 1985 !!!!! FC New York is a perfect name !!!
I plan to go make 1 visiting trip to the Rowdies. Hope I can see a great crowd out there with one of the greatest names. For all the people who want a team in the South or the FL, I hope you go out and support the Rowdies. I saw a great game in Raymond James Stadium with US v. Ecuador. I hope that crowd comes...
nothing is official yet...but they will almost certainly play games in the city. Baker field, and Icahn....then some out in long island.
I was reading BB forums and you guys seem to demanding over there, it looks like you guys belive that your the only people that are going to go and they must cater to you guys taste. I agree that it FCNY should play in NYC proper but some of the things you guys post on you forum is just ridiculous, unless BB is 3k strong I dont see a reason why you guys need to be so crazy about cheerleaders or thundersticks. Remember the bulk of the fans are gonna be casual fans.
we want this club to be successful.. name any professional sport that prospers out on LI..the answer is 0, because no one from the city really cares about long island.. we want this club to be a great bluc..and having cheerleaders and having this a "family fun event" does not bring in the passionate soccer fans that we want this club to rope in..that is what MLS teams in the beginning did wrong.. they catered to the soccer moms and built SSS in the suburbs..what stadiums are built in the suburbs? dick's sporting good park , and pizza hut park etc..how do you think dallas and colorado did with attendance lately.. we don't ant this club making mistakes from the get go..we want it to start on the right foot thats all..
but no MLS: http://goal.com/en-us/news/66/united-states/2009/04/01/1186883/usl-announces-new-york-franchise
I'm 100% with ya on the stadium thing, I just thing you guys are complaining to early about other stuff. I has even been 12hr since the team was announced.
