Its back for another season - FANTASY OLYMPICS 2022-2023

Congrats to last seasons worthy winner - Tangers FC (England)

Here is a quick recap of the rules -

As usual, the Fantasy Olympic weekly winners will be the top scorers across 'All Rocks Leagues' - earning Gold, Silver and Bronze.

The All Rocks League will be used to collect scores for our internal competitions. All 32 teams are in (hopefully).

Gold , Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded with NO exclusions ! (so there could be 3 Gold - 3 Silver and 3 Bronze in any week if the points decree. )

    Gold Medal = 5 pts Silver = 3 pts Bronze = 1 pt

The winner is the one at the end of the season with the most POINTS in total. In case of a tie Gold medals are counted, then Silver medals and then Bronze.

Each game week a wooden spoon will be awarded for the lowest score this incurs a penalty of -1.0pt which could have a disastrous effect on your total points haul at the end of the season (deductions will be made after the last game !)

Good luck to all managers and may the best manager triumph.

The standings make it an easy one to find the medalists for the opening game week.

For Gold we have a three way tie. ColdDogSoup FC, Top Shelf and Sasha Juniors all scored 79.

ColdDogSoupFC was led with captain Salah but had Kulusevski and Mitrović. Only left 2 points on the bench but had to play a 15 minute and 1 minute cameo for defense with Lamptey and Malacia.

Top Shelf was led by Haaland. He also had 4 clean sheets from his back three and goalkeper. The worst scores were left on the bench as well.

Sasha Juniors also had Halland and Kulusevski but they left both Zinchenko and Set and Forget Ward-Prowse on the bench for a combined 21 points.

Just behind for Silver with 78 points was Parraraiders. Another Salah and Kulusevski combination. Parraraiders doubled down on Aston Villa with Coutinho and Bailey while leaving Welbeck on the bench.

Bronze goes to our new manager of Borussia DaMarcus. Another Captain Haaland buoyed with three clean sheets in the back. 58 points was just enought to eke past Small Rocks veteran Glorydaze.

The Wooden Spoon goes to Real Newark who got no production for a great draft. Captain Kane suffers the additional first point drop of the season.

    Standings

    A little late on reporting.

    GW 2

Glorydaze had three players on the Team of the Week. Captain DeBruyne, Cancelo and Watkins. That and good work from Toney helped one ignore "Own Goal" Digne. Glorydaze climbed to the top of the All Rocks standings and onto the top of the medal stand.

Silver went to FC Epikoinis. The Arsenal heavy squad suffered their own "Own Goal" with last week's darling Saliba. The real star was Jesus, the top scorer of the week, of course captained over Ronaldo. Jesus brought in 39 of 71 points.

Right behind, winning bronze with 69 points, was a new team to the league, Living in Dreamland. They had Kane as Captain with Watkins and Foden as the other stand out players.

Honorable mention goes to GameofOhhs with 60 points. Also with Jesus but captained Diaz for half the points.

Pararaiders who won silver last week are left holding the spoon. All the brilliance left for a gameweek with a Darwin head butt to cap off the weekend.

    Gold: Glorydaze 95

Glorydaze makes it back to back gold medals. Captain De Bruyne does it again along with Perisic and Harrison for double digits. The front line of Watkines, oney and Welbeck all get a goal or assist as well.

Sasha Juniors also is back for gold. Once again 12 points are left on the bench. This time Perisic. Firmino gets the start on what was thought to be a goal fest but that also was what brought in Meslier over De Gea.

Just one point behind for Silver is Journeymen. Captain Vardy was a dud along as the double Liverpool backline of Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk. Odegaard and Saint-Maximin were able to make up for them.

And just a point behind Journeymen for Bronze was Real Newark. Captain Kane was OK but Rodrigo, Zaha and Saliba all hit double digits.

Honarable mention was 4 points behind but shared by Kopite Jrs and ColdDogSoup FC both with Captain Salah.

The Wooden Spoon was shared as well. Soccer Steve and Tangers FC each had a 23. Tangers FC had to watch Grealish and Mahrez get no pitch time and Soccer Steve suffered the -2 from Koulibaly while Captain Son was on a second blank.

    Gold: Glorydaze 67 / Sasha Juniors 67
    Silver: Journeymen 66

Crazy scores for a single gameweek. Two teams hit the triple digits.

On top is Borussia DaMarcus. Won Bronze in GW 1 but is back now to stand at the top of the medal stand. Captains Haaland for the hat trick and has Firmino with a 22 point haul of a brace and three assists. He also had double digit outings from Van Dijk, Groß and Ødegaard. 107 points total. That brings up our new Sand Manager to the top of All Rocks.

Just two points behind with 105 was Journeymen with back to back Silvers. Also with Van Dijk, Groß and Ødegaard had Alexander-Arnold as Captain for 34 points.

For Bronze was Sasha Juniors. Another Haaland and Firmino combo.

Honorable Mention is shared with Lokomotiv Lewisham with Alexxander-Arnold captain and Real Newark with Captain Kane, Sterling and Groß

Tangers FC takes the spoon again.

    Gold: Borussua DaMarcus 107

Maybe when you were 22 years old you backpacked through Europe and visited Norway. Or maybe your Norwegian, your 22 years old and you get two hat tricks in a row.

The Three Haalands of All Rocks get to experience the latter.

Top Shelf in Small gets gold after Haaland provides 34 of 78 points. Mac Allister is the other star for the weekend who hit double digits for the club.

Sasha Juniors got Silver. They screw up the coin toss once again between either choosing De Gea and Melier as keeper two weeks in a row. De Gea isn't bad....

That keeps our Bronze Winner, Borrusia DaMarcus one point in the lead of All Rocks. They bring in Stones for 10 points this gameweek to keep the pace to lead All Rocks.

Back in reality of no Haaland, ColdDogSoup FC gets honorable mention with Captain Salah along with anothe smooth transfer Stones and draft choice Motrovic to lead the rest of the pack.

Soccer Steve is back for another Spoon as the curse of Son continues. Bowen and Son are both going to the soothsayer on Friday to work things out.

    Gold: Top Shelf 78
    Silver: Sasha Juniors 76
    Bronze: Borussia DaMarcus 75

As mentioned by ColdDogSoup FC in the Small Banter thread if you were looking to see who had Ma Allister, Chillwell and Rashford in Small it was Top Shelf. Also, with Captain Haaland who only manages a goal and maximum bonus points. With the four of them it is 74 points! Chilwell was an autosub to make this extra smooth.

That is back to back Golds for Top Shelf. Three golds in six gameweeks. That puts Top Shelf on top of the Fantasy Olympics!

Keysersoze Wanderers get Silver for their first medal of the campaign. They captained Trossard with Sa, Silva, Mbuemo and Fernandes making up the rest of scoring.

GameofOhhs grab bronze with a Captain Sancho and a Vice Captain Diaz. Solanke and Mac Allister along with Nick Pope make the Players of the Week and make up the difference.

The Javelinas suffer a Kloch early substitution of Captain Alexander-Arnold to add insult to injury of a draw against Everton.

    Gold: Top Shelf 78

It has been a tough season for Son owners. It would have been even tougher if you gave up the hope and did not captain him. What shock when you saw him on the bench. What awe when he comes on in the 59th minute to score a hat trick and get an assist to boot!

One happy Son owner was Sand's Morning Glory. Captain's Son for 38 points. Just under half of the squads 77 point haul. Cancelo gets max bonus points and a clean sheet while original draft pick Connor Coady gets the clean sheet / yellow card combo. Trippier remains a constant point producer with an assist.

All this was enough to get 3 points ahead of blechs_dawgs who has Son in Small Rocks. Blech was missing 3 players from the pitch so that 8 person squad showed how they could perform. Saka and Isak each with 9 and Maddison and Dias with 7 and 6 respectively.

Bronze goes to Son in VSR. Soccer Steve with Son's 38 points and good runs from his Man City pairing of Foden and Dias just gets past Honorable Mention FC St. Pauli who had 56 points with Captain Kane.

ColdDogSoupFC took the game cancellations to the chin with a wooden spoon that at least came with a nice note.

Who knew it was going to be a blowout against Manchester United? With no one captaining Trossard and his unexpected hat trick against Liverpool, the three Haalands get to come running back to the stage.

Borussua DaMarcus wins gold with 96 points. So close to a century mark. 46 points from Haaland with Aubameyang and Firmino with just below and above double digits up front.

Sasha Juniors was right behind with 91 points but with Darwin sitting the match out till the last minutes.

Top Shelf a more distant 75 points takes his first Bronze after three Golds.

Kopite Junior was one with Trossard and with Maddison. Those 20 and 18 points respectively were never going to be doubled with Salah on the field. Now comes a busy schedule of Champions League for the Captain and possible game time management. Not too bad when you have production like that from your number two and number three.

BiggerBoat gets the Wooden Spoon with a debacle in the back that included not just an auto-sub bringing in a pair of Nottingham Forest players trending downward but a shocker from the Man City pair, one of which with the Captain's Armband.

It took all week but the manager at Stormin Gunners made all the right tweaks to the engine to really get the motor running. Especially smooth were the namesake players who really took it to their rival. Saka with a brace and Martinelli with a goal and assist. Each on the Team of the Week. Adding to the points were five other players with goals and assists. The only three duds were Vardy, Gabriel and Dunk.

For Silver, BiggerBoat made quite the comeback after receiving the wooden spoon just the gameweek prior. Captain Cancelo just about brings in half the haul with 36 points alone. Four other players with goals and assists and one clean sheet make for an impressive score of 76. Vardy again was there with his single digit.

FC St. Pauli wins Bronze with 70 points who had red hot Foden as captain. Daka, Kane, Aaronson and Antony are four more with goals and assists. The Chelsea pairing of Koulibaly and Cucrella bring in the clean sheets.

For all three winners, it is their first time on the medal stand this campaign. We will surely see them all back soon.

Just inches away was Borussia DaMarcus with 69 points who gets honorable mention. Like a tiger it is hard to keep this club at bay.

The All Mighty Wooden Spoon sadly goes to a Salah owner. Pararaiders with no Arsenal cover didn't even get to see their star go the full ninety minutes.

This is the gameweek where the ManCity pair of Haaland and DeBruyne went quiet and the alternative first round picks of Kane and Salah were golden. But solid gold was Mason Mount with the brace. That would be the player you should have traded for on your open team.

Lokomotiv Lewisham had Mount as captain. That with three clean sheets and Ødegaard's assist secures Gold.

Silver went to a manager with Ødegaard as captain. That with three defenders and a goalkeeper with clean sheets and seven bonus points. What was even better for Journeymen to boast post match was to have Solanke as vice captain with a knowing smile. This is the third silver for

Bronze went to another Solanke owner with Kane as captain. One Living in Dreamland has a hard choice for keeper with Guaita and Sá each in the double digits.

Honorable Mention again goes to BoRussia DaMarcus who has to share the honors with GameofOhhs.

BiggerBoat brings in Eriksen who gets the sniffles but at least offers a special hand carved spoon from his homeland.

No Man City, No Arsenal, No Problem.

In Week 12, it took a score of 50 or above to get on the medal stand. Kopite Jrs wins gold with only 9 players on the pitch including Salah for a whopping 3 points doubled. That 6 points was equaled or bettered by 6 other players on the pitch to show that slow and steady wins the race. First medal of the campaign for Kopite Jrs!

Just two points behind was Soccer Steve winning Silver. All four defenders and the keeper get clean sheets. Ronaldo was shown on the field but we all know he didn't even last the whole match in the stadium. Barnes was the only outfield player to bet on the board as Ivan Toney was given the captain's armband.

Morning Glory was then just a point behind the Silver medalist for Bronze. He captain's Son but that can be forgiven for who would have guessed the Bruno Fernandes would break his duck and hit his first double digit haul of the campaign. This could be the turn around that Fernandes owners have been waiting for. Who knows if there were any congratulations coming from Ronaldo.

Aviators with a large Man City and Arsenal contention knew not to captain Bowen and his PK miss but only gets Sá one point doubled. A massive bench boost chip is planned for the Man City against Arsenal goal fext that is sure to come.

Only one Haaland made it to the medal stand. That was Top Shelf who also had Zouma as a defender with a goal, a clean sheet and maximum bonus points. 15 points from a defender is always welcome news on the final match of the gameweek and a Monday too! Critical points to win Gold. Fourth gold that is and that propels Top Shelf to the top of the standings.

Blechs_dawgs had Castagne who was the difference of a goal versus an assist. Blech picked up Castagne early in his point streak and also brought in Almirón from the transfer wire two weeks ago. This week it was Xhaka transferred in for 10 points. Nice work from the scouting team earning them Silver while Son continues to not deliver. Veterans Maddison and Calvert-Lewin added their solid performances as well.

REVEALED: Starboy XI earns bronze with a long list of solid veteran performances including the likes of Captain De Bruyne, Calvert-Lewin, Maddison and Mitrović. First medal for our new manager!

Honorable mention goes to that other Haaland owner who doesn't know when to start Mings or transfer him out. 10 points flushed down the toilet this time.

Tangers FC got another wooden spoon suffering both with a Pep Roulette of Mahrez and Grealish who actually played this time but did not score and withering performances from veterans Jesus and Aubameyang while Havertz was left off the pitch.

Yes, quite the final game for Top Shelf. In addition to the 15 points from Zouma, with clean sheet, (questionable) goal, and 3 bonus points, let's not discount Cresswell's 8-point contribution with clean sheet and 2 bonus points! 23 points from the two of them to take the gold by just 2 points.

Now to file a VAR protest as I'm still baffled on that non-call, other than that the game was starting to get a little sleepy at that point....

And, seriously, 8 of 15 gold medals through 12 GWs have been won by the three "Haaland" teams!

Not only were the three Haalands all absent, GW 14 also brings last weeks Wooden Spoon winner to the top of the podium. Tangers FC won gold with 82 points. Not only did Jesus and Havertz provide up top but two defenders, Mee and Trippier each hit for 11. The other defenders, Guéhl and Robertson had solid outings along with Ederson who even brought in two bonus points. First medal for Tangers FC and it is Gold!

Silver went to the Wooden Spoon winner just the week earlier. Aviators had De Bruyne bing in 22 of 72 points. The back line was also solid. Mee with 11 points and Laporte, Coady and Schär all with clean sheets. Lloris was another story. Eriksen was the last standout from the team. First medal for Aviators and it is Silver!

Bronze winner, Lokomotiv Lewisham, was also a story of a backline with Ederson, Botman, White and Mykolenko all with clean sheets. Captain Firmino disappointed but Callum Wilson was on fire so much so that no one seemed to notice the outing Ødegaard had. Bronze nonetheless.

Honorable mention, Morning Glory, was also with Callum Wilson, Trippier and clean sheets from the other two defenders and keeper. Leaving Coady and the clean sheet likely kept them off the medal stand.

The Wooden Spoon went to Soccer Steve, who gots ones and twos from his back line with the exception of Burn. The strike force of Ronaldo, Toney, Barnes, Son, Foden and Andreas all looked great on paper. The results were slightly better than the defense. Two weeks in a row, 23 points earns the Wooden Spoon.

Kopite Juniors with the resurgence of Mo Salah are back for their second gold medal. Salah gets 30 of the 80 points for the gameweek. Gabriel with the goal, clean sheet and maximum bonus points equaled Salah's output. James Maddison looking to make the World Cup Squad was just behind with a goal and assist and two bonus bonus points. Second gold for Kopite Juniors!

That was 15 points ahead of the silver medalist, ColdDogSoupFC. That is no problem for Lobo who is happy to see Mo back in a fight to stay in Small Rocks. ColdDogSoupFC had the less flashy Leicester player in Barnes. Ward and Darwin were the other stands outs as a backline full of Chelsea and Man City blue all failed to produce any worthwhile points.

For Bronze there was a tie. Pararaider and Stormin Gunners each had 58 points. Pararaiders had Salah to produce 30 of those 58 points and Stormin Gunners had Saka as captain to double 5 points. The rest came from Zaha, Martinelli and Almirón.

Zaha was back for the Honorable Mention for Stormin Gunners who also had Kane as captain and the ever consistent Rodrigo. Former golden boy of the Arsenal defense, Saliba, rounds up the major point winners.

BiggerBoat had one of those weekends. Captain Cancelo see red. Other than 4 points from Saint-Maximin it was just ones and twos with even a zero from Henderson. 12 points could be the new lowest score of the season. Not even his Raiders won.

FC St. Pauli win their first gold of the season with an impressive 73 points. One very auspicious trade was made by the veteran manager for the gameweek. Bournemouth's Marcus Tavernier was brought in who equaled Captain Kane's output of a goal and an assist. Daka, Johnson got assists up top and VC Foden also knocked in a goal for an entire outfield squad hitting the back of the net or assisting in that effort. Two of five defenders got the clean sheet which helped to stay three points above Living in Dreamland to secure the gold.

For Silver, Living in Dreamland did not get the magic bullet of a transfer but can thank a long list of consistent performers. First of there is Captain Kane with 12 goals in 16 matches and only four blanks. Then there is Solanke, Barnes and Rodrigo who are like chickens. Each week you see if they left a goal or an assist to count. The same can't be said of Foden and Grealish whose minutes are always in doubt. In defense while Chilwell and James sit out a few matches Burn is able to bring a clean sheet at almost the rate of every other match. Nice set up and a Silver medal for this gameweek goes with it.

Bronze went to ColdDogSoup FC. Same score as last week at 65 but for the less shiny medal. Captain Salah misteps but Ings and Darwin each hit for 13 up top. But more importantly Lobo is finally learning to start Danny Ward over Hugo Llories behind the sticks. At every board meeting there is someone going through the gameweek giggling. It got so bad a trade for Mendy was the result this week. At least Mendy is used to the bench. Ward was again in the Dreamteam. Six saves is medal material. Lobo now has one of each.

Lobo is able to keep Real Newark as an Honorable Mention for the second week in a row with just a two point margin. He had Captain Kane and Rodrigo's brace along with Robertson's double assist match. Zaha's PK miss was a killer but might have been less frustrating as seeing Raheem Sterling not allowed a minute against Newcastle, a disturbing anamaly or a trend. Feels almost like being an Aubameyang owner.

For the Wooden Spoon we are all in shock to hear Top Shelf's name. A proud Haaland owner. Also with Zaha who hit the wrong side of the post on the PK there were ones and twos all around. The lone bright spot was Ramsdale with a clean sheet to get 1/3 of the 18 point haul.

After a little World Cup break, Borussia DaMarcus comes roaring back with a rested Haaland. 86 points with the brace for the one Norwegian, and a brace for the other, Ødegaard, and both with maximum bonus points.

The other two Haalands took Bronze and Honorable Mention. Ahead of those two was REVEALED: Starboy XI who had De Bruyne as captain who blanked and even had a field of just 9 players. But those who were not named De Bruyne or were not injured hit. Nothing lower than a six which were Nketiah and Sterling. Joeylinton and Mitrovic starred each with double digits hauls.

Top Shelf got Bronze to keep their lead. Rashford and Mount were each with double digits as Sasha Juniors suffered a Reece James injury at the 52 minute mark to miss out on the clean sheet.

GW 18 had a tight race with the medalists just within two points of their closest competition.

Glorydaze get their third medal and it is gold to put them in 4th place in the rankings of All Rocks and the Fantasy Olympics. De Bruyne had the armband against Everton but only earned a yellow card. Martinelli and Toney made the difference to edge past Stormin Gunners. They are a gold medal from second place in this competion.

Stormin Gunners with Martinelli as well with fellow gunners, Saka and Gabriel, in that wild ride against Brighton get Silver.

Just behind with Bronze is BoRussia DaMarcus looking to overtake Top Shelf in this competition had another solid outing with the two Norwegians. The always Captain Haaland strategy has a simple alternative with Ødegaard hitting another double digit gameweek.

Sasha Juniors get another Honorable Mention. Just two points off the medal stand with putting Eze deep on the bench with 8 points as the chump move.
