Irving Berlin was born in Russia before they adopted the Gregorian calendar. Maybe you confused the Old Style and New Style dates.
Not his birthday. He just randomly popped into my head. Phil Donahue is 85 these days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Donahue ETA: Whoah. He's looking 85, too! https://www.wfla.com/daytime/marlo-thomas-phil-donahue-on-what-makes-a-marriage-last/ Charming couple, though. Look sort of like they could be my family friends.
Saw him a few years ago. Good show. He was contracted to do a one hour set at a local college. Luckily, pretty much every black church within 100 miles sent a busload of people, and they were into it. So largely because of them, from what I can tell, his trio took a break at about 50 minutes, came back 20 minutes later, and did another 75 minute set. Complete with "In Crowd" of course, but also a couple of Coltrane tunes, too (Dear Lord, Alabama) which people really dug.
John Fogerty - 76 (May 28, 1945) Loved this from the comment section: "What did you do today granpa? Oh, just sit around the house and listened to a 74 year old man sing 50 year old songs. It was wonderful."
Because he's the greatest songwriter of the 20th century, not Dylan. You made a laughable call to begin with, and now you've doubled down by even questioning my post.
According to Wash Post obit for BJ Thomas, “by some accounts” Bacharach originally wanted Dylan to sing “Raindrops Falling on My Head.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...46fe42-8cad-11eb-a6bd-0eb91c03305a_story.html
I'd heard that before. Also, I'd forgotten it was written for the movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
That might have sounded worse than if Burt had sung it himself (I'm only kidding). Dylan's voice was not up to the task. He was never a singer as they tend to define themselves- he's a songwriter who recorded some of his own stuff, like Billy Swan. Herb Alpert had hired a studio guy to sing This Guy's In Love With You (also a Bacharach/David tune), but he didn't show up. Alpert ended up singing it himself. That was his only #1 hit until 1980.

It's Mike Tyson's 55th birthday today. Maybe it's just that I really only follow soccer and gymnastics, but I thought that guy was in his 70's by now.
