Final seconds of the game: there was another dangerous chance for Utah, but game ends 2-2. First half was chaotic, but the second half was mostly quiet.

86' 2-2 OL Reign is sending Smith up wide right in attack a lot, probably because they don't want Cox to do it on the left and they need the width to create some overloads. Reign find some 1-v-0s deep in the box, but never connect on the final cross. For Utah, King gets to counter into Smith's space and showcase her speed, but Reign congest the box and block every shot.

90' 2-2 Weatherholt fouls Strom-Okimoto at 28m right post. Vero fk, but she leans back at contact and slices it way high. +2'.

90+3' (of +2') 2-2 Utah right ck, short. Cross headed out to ~box top right, LaBonta shoots to right 90, Murphy pushes it over. Still not done.

90+4' (of +3') 2-2 Utah right ck, cleared out to 10m mid-left, two Utah players bump each other off ball and Reign clear.

FT 2-2. I think all 4 goals came from blown marking, and both sides fixed those problems, resulting in no further occurrences.

23' 0-0 Pressley underhits a backpass, Harris clears off Visalli's foot. Groom shoots, Harris blocks.

27' 1-0 Schmidt sliding longball from circle right, drops it perfectly past Petersen and Pressley into the stride of Prince through arc top right. Prince follows to 16m right post, opens hip and chips one-touch right instep, well above Harris's left hand, into 1/4 right 1/2 high.

    31' 1-0 1H hydration break.

45+3' (of +2') 1-1 Viggiano passes from midfield left touch to Marta double-teamed, coming back to circle top wide left -- and Viggiano continues her own run up left touch. Marta one-touch backpass to Washington at midfield box left, Washington hits one-touch inside-out pass toward 30m left touch. Hanson pulls up and goes for the interception, but ball rolls right over her shoe, continues to Viggiano 3m behind her. Viggiano maintains lead, veers through box top left to 15m mid-left, shoots right instep past Campbell's dive, off left post low, it deflects across goal into center back low.

    HT 1-1. Houston 11(5)-(1)3 shots(sog), 3-0 corners, 10-3 crosses vs. 7-7 clearances, 4-5 fouls, 54% possession.

    46' 1-1 Orlando subs in { 0th of 3 }:
    - (1 of 5) #8 Deneisha Blackwood for #5 Savannah Uveges. NWSL box score lists no bench players at all for Orlando.

48' 1-1 Yellow card on Blackwood, for a foul on #_.

53' 1-1 K.Mewis scoops a medium-high entry pass toward 6-top left. Groom(?) swim-moves around Viggiano on the left, Viggiano promptly wraps left arm fully over Groom's upper back and tugs her left ribs. Groom keeps legs churning and drives right shoulder through Viggiano's mass, eventually pushing her down to her knees at 5m 3-left. Foul on Viggiano, pk. (NWSL pbp says Latsko, but that was totally a Groom bulldozer type of play.) Viggiano throws both arms up, yellow card on Viggiano -- possibly for that dissent.

54' 2-1 Schmidt pk, short approach, opens hip, lifts right instep into right side netting high, over Harris's dive.

60' 2-1 K.Mewis shoots from 14m mid-left across mouth, Harris dives and saves.

    65' 2-1 Houston subs in { 1st of 3 }:
    - (1 of 5) #7 Katie Stengel for #14 Brianna Visalli.

    66' 2-1 Orlando subs in { 1th of 3 }:
    - (2 of 5) #25 Konya Plummer for #3 Toni Pressley.

68' 2-1 Yellow card on Listro, for a foul on Schmidt.

69' 2-1 K.Mewis fk at 17m mid-left, with Schmidt and Groom standing in a self-wall to shield ball. Suddenly, Schmidt taps square right, Groom turns and shoots one-touch right roundhouse to left post low, Harris smothers it. That's the greatest free kick trick shot skit ever  alas, Harris was so surprised she didn't even have time to move out of the way :D

71' 2-1 Nairn longball up wide left springs K.Mewis through box top left. Harris races her out to 14m box left, Mewis hops over her hands and continues to 5m mid-left. Shross poked over by Krieger getting back just in time.

72' 3-1 K.Mewis left ck, tight to 1m 1/3 right high, Harris slaps it away through box right. Schmidt rounds Washington to box right foot, backpass to 7m center. Hanson, coming left-to-right toward ball, hop-flicks a volley up centerline, it deflects off Elinsky's leg (or left arm, but it doesn't matter), down off grass, gently off right post 1/2 high, pops out to 2m right post thigh-high. Groom lurks thereat, lifts reflex knee-high right outstep volley over Harris's head, into 1/4 right roof. It looks like the right call: Washington held Groom onside on Hanson's shot, and anyways it deflected off Elinsky.

    78' 3-1 Houston subs in { 2nd of 3 }:
    - (2 of 5) #44 Maegan Kelly for #12 Veronica Latsko.

    85' 3-1 Houston subs in { 3rd of 3 }:
    - (3 of 5) #24 Jamia Fields for #8 Nichelle Prince.

    88' 3-1 Orlando subs in { 3rd of 3 }:
    - (3 of 5) #32 Ally Haran for #17 Carrie Lawrence, who exits into far touch. Haran's 1st cap! She was with NC in 2018 and Houston in 2019, and finally gets minutes for Orlando. +5'.

90+1' (of +5') 3-1 Houston through-ball sends Fields to 3m mid-right, Plummer matches her pace and blocks cross over.

90+3' (of +5') 3-1 Marta chases a through-ball to 10m 6-right, Campbell slides out and covers ball, Marta mistimes her hurdle and trips over Campbell's right ribs.

FT 3-1. Orlando are 7 full games behind Houston in 2020, so it's understandable that Houston can impose their will a bit. On top of that, Orlando are capping newbies.

    Houston 27!(11!)-(2)6 shots(sog), 9-3 corners, 25-12 crosses vs. 13-21 clearances, 3-0 offsides, 7-10 fouls, 57% possession.

Almost missed the fact that this thread had Wednesday's game included in the OP... Odd to me to see midweek games tacked onto the previous weekend instead of the upcoming one, but hey it's here! =-)

According to the game preview, Portland's injury report is limited to the two 'keepers AD and Bixby, while don't-call-them-Seattle are down Hedge, Ashley, and Hiatt

05' 0-0 Cruz crosses from arc top wide right to 8m 2/5 right, Balcer leans and drives a header to 1/4 right 1/2 high, Eckerstrom flies left and pushes it over bar.

06' 0-0 Reign right ck, cleared. Reign ground cross to spot, Long dummies over it but it rolls behind Huerta's run. Portland clear long, Charley leads McNabb through box top mid-right, Betos races them both out and dives, knocks McNabb sideways into Charley's legs as all three go down. No call.

07' 0-0 Portland right ck, ground pass to Lussi unmarked at 13m mid-right, she slices a shot wide right.

14' 0-0 Klingenberg ground cross from wide left, cleared. Portland deep left cross bounces past Charley's lunge. Klingenberg left cross, Charley glances a header wide right not over. Westphal floats a shross from arc top wide right to Betos.

16' 0-0 Huerta gets surrounded 1-v-3 at midfield wide left, rushed square pass right intercepted. Grumble :D

17' 0-0 Reign longball toward Balcer up wide left, Westphal heads it straight up and Menges clears to her.

18' 0-0 White steals at circle right, promptly clangs it off Sinclair. Spencer wins it back, feeds Balcer in a 3-v-3. Huerta chases to box left foot, scoops a shross too tight, over endline right.

19' 0-0 Cruz receives just behind midfield wide right, Sauerbrunn presses and kicks her ankle. Foul. Still, that fast press is disrupting Reign's tempo.

21' 0-0 Balcer takes Klingenberg to 2m wide right, banks ball off her to endline. Klingenberg stops it half-over, kicks it over far touch. Off that throw-in, Spencer eludes Horan, ground cross intercepted by Salem.

22' 0-0 White right ck, outswings to 10m right post. Balcer comes center-to-right, twist-heads a bloop to right post, Eckerstrom catches easily.

24' 0-0 Reign's back-row passing tempo has noticeably increased  Finally, longball sends Spencer to 15m mid-right, she scuffs a right foot shot wide right and high.

25' 0-0 T.Smith and Sinclair hook each others' feet while counterrotating, both come up limping. Foul on Smith. Klingenberg(?) fk at 30m box left, to 6-top center, Betos catches high.

27' 0-0 Portland outlets to Charley at midfield wide right, McNabb hangs onto Charley's left arm and pulls her around like it's a joystick. Foul on McNabb.

28' 0-0 Long softly traps a high switch to box top left touch, Westphal pokes into near touch.

30' 0-0 Horan passes up left touch to Klingenberg, she taps further up wide left to Salem. Cross toward spot, Brooks heads away from Charley. Portland looks like they're determined to win on the 1000th pass (on the 14th line of the sonnet :D).

32' 0-0 Reign pass up right touch, tap square left to Cruz at 30m box right -- and everybody goes fast break. Pass to Spencer at 15m wide right, cross(?) sails over.

    32' 0-0 1H hydration break.

35' 0-0 Sauerbrunn collects, plays a give-and-go with Sinclair (through midfield?) -- and keeps going. Charley jukes Brooks through box top left post, gets to 12m mid-left, shoots left instep partially blocked, McNabb escorts it wide right.

35' 0-0 Cruz outlets to Spencer just past midfield wide right, Klingenberg slides through Spencer's right foot. Foul, yellow card on Klingenberg.

39' 0-0 Both sides show off leet ball-control skills. Cox passes ahead to Huerta facing away at circle top wide left. Westphal applies close pressure, Huerta does a sole-drag nutmeg -- but Westphal turns first and easily collects it :p That's the problem with nutmegs from a standstill, now there's a body in the way --

40' 1-0 Horan plays a fast give-and-go with Klingenberg in a phone booth up left touch, veers through 15m box left to 9m mid-left. Backpass to 11m left post, Sinclair trails and shoots right foottop across mouth, past Betos's dive, into back right edge 1/2 high.

45' 1-0 Klingenberg drives a cross from 25m left touch to 10m left post, it skims off Sinclair's head, bounces off McNabb's head, pops up and drops at 5m 3-right. Lussi runs on, volleys a dipping shot just wide right low. +3'.

45+4' (of +3') 1-0 Portland intercepts at arc top wide right, passes to Sinclair unmarked at arc top mid-right. Sinclair fakes a shot, instead overhits a ground pass through box top center. Charley chases it down at 3m mid-left, dribbles away to 8m box left, Smith slides poorly and trips her flat. Foul, pk. Smith has looked a step adrift on Reign's right flank all night.

45+5' (of +3') 2-0 Sinclair pk, right instep into back right low, as Betos stepped wrong.

HT 2-0. Portland 8(2)-(4)5 shots(sog), 2-3 corners, 9-9 crosses vs. 7-8 clearances, 2-0 offsides, 3-6 fouls, 56% possession. Reign look decently sharp in 3/4 of the field, but Portland has precision in the final 1/3.

    - (1 of 5) #20 Kelli Hubly for #4 Becky Sauerbrunn (planned).

46' 2-0 Charley spins past Smith down box left, Smith slides at endline and pokes ball over.

46' 2-0 Portland left ck, to 3m 1/4 right, Brooks heads it away from Horan. Ball drops at 10m 1/4 left, Hubly standing-flicks it over her right shoulder toward right post, Betos catches.
