Basically all games were scheduled for this weekend, but due to the first round of the national cup competition the games were moved from last Tuesday until next Wednesday.

Weekend's over for the Yanks in the North:

    - Salyer once again did not play in Werder Ama's 0-1 loss in Aue last Tuesday.
    - new transfer Adam Maurer's SC Verl draw 1-1 vs Wattenscheid. Probably he didn't get the playing permit from the US Soccer Federation in time to make his first steps in D3.
    - Joe Enochs went full 90 in Osnabrück's 1-0 home victory vs Uerdingen.

Weekend for the Yanks in the South is mainly taking place on Wednesday:

    - Shoffner/Payne/Lawson/Mason had the only real weekend game. Shoffner's Neunkirchen won for the first time this season and is putting Elversberg more and more under trouble. I don't know about the personal stats yet, but only Payne was expected to start. Final result was 4-1.
    - Matarazzo/Phillips have a 7 pm Wednesday game at home vs Hoffenheim. Hoffenheim surprised this weekend in the cup competition by defeating D2 team Greuther Fürth 4-1; in the league they are an average team, currently on rank 9. M&P's SV Wehen needs the points to get out of the relegation zone.
    - Tom Dooley's 1.FC Saarbrücken plays in Augsburg at the same time. Augsburg is close to relegation zone while Saarbrücken is on rank 2.
    - van Buskirk/Lukin travel to Pfullendorf, also at the same time. Both teams started quite good with contact to the top teams. If nothing major happens in today's cup game, both are expected to start. The main question will be whether coach Ingo Peter is still on Siegen's bench in this game or whether he signs in St Pauli.

Elversberg fired coach Klaus Scheer. For a while President Frank Holzer is doing this job until he finds a new coach.

This weekend Payne had to roam his spot in the goal, Mason was still injured and Lawson started for the first time, but was substituted after 60.

Olaf - thanks for all the updates. A quick question for you (or anyone else who knows): How does promotion/relegation work from the 2 Bundesliga to the D3 North and South? My main question is, if 2 teams get relegated from the 2 Bundesliga, and hypothetically both of them are in the far north of the country, are the north and south D3 leagues reorganized so that one team that was formerly in the North gets moved to the South, or how does that work?

    Thanks.

4 relegate from 2. Bundesliga and two each of D3 North and South promote. We had this situation you're mentioning right before this season when three teams relegated to D3 South. It was ruled quite simple: in D3 North one team less had to relegate; in D3 South they are playing with 19 instead of 18 teams and 5 instead of 4 relegate to D4 this season.

    Today's South games:

    Augsburg vs Saarbrücken 3-0
Second consecutive high loss after the home 1-5 against Pfullendorf. Dooley's team drops out of the promotion ranks for the first time this season to rank 4.

    Wehen vs Hoffenheim 2-1
Important victory for Matarazzo and Phillips that gets them out of the relegation zone for the moment (13). Matarazzo was moved back to the position of the central defender and played full 90 while Phillips didn't have playing time.

    Pfullendorf vs Siegen 1-1
A draw that secures Siegen's midfield rank 8 regarding both directions. van Buskirk and Lukin started, Lukin was substituted after 61 minutes. The only time one of them is mentioned in the ticker is the yellow card for Lukin.
