:( I think Toronto signed almost a Montreal Impact goalkeeper, not even they want Tony. Perhaps the NFL wants Tony again?

Weird, no word on the roster freezes from the other MLS clubs.

Lists are supposed to be in by 5pm ET today (Nov. 14). Not sure if the lists will be published right away or not (I'll certainly be keeping watching for them).

As the newest MLS Champs we figure we're ripe for the picking and we're a bit anxious about who Dom will protect and who your available choices will be.

We really like our Canadians :) Wish we knew for sure if DeRo was going to Europe or not so we don't have to use a spot to protect him if he's leaving anyway. Maybe we can keep him as our Designated Player :)

Are your owners wealthy enough to bring in a good Designated Player for your inaugural year?

Good luck to Toronto FC in choosing some good players so you can at least be competitive next year. Sure wish you were getting real grass, though. At least we only have to risk injury once during the season.

Welcome to the league and to the official "Clubs" board on BigSoccer!

Lets put it this way, the NHL salary cap is 42M or thereabouts. The Leafs salary before the cap was 67M and they still turned a happy profit. They who own teh Leafs own the TFC.

They have plenty of money, plenty of it!:D

Or to put it another way...

They just gave Chris Bosh $17 million per season for the next 5 years. They paid Alonzo Mourning $10 million just to get him off the Raptors roster.

    MLSE has plenty of money.

Then why did they need 3 levels of government to build them a stadium? I mean if they had plenty of money- they could at least spent some of it on a roof? or real grass?

I have a feeling this team will be run in the same manner as the stadium ended up.

Bare bones and as cheap as it can be.

Look at this starting 11 from the expansion draft (and Brennan + Sutton).

    Jaqua Buddle

    Brennan/Nkong

    Van Der Bergh James Riley

    Clyde Simms Serioux

    Vanney/Yi Regan Kyle Veris

    Sutton

    Definitely better than Columbus.

That's incredibly unrealistic due to salary concerns and number of foreign players. Expect Toronto to take Simms, Serioux, a good defender, and then mostly developmental players (YI's).

plus the other canadians that we have rumoured to be signed. Reda, Braz and Pozniak, plus other canadians we sign.

I think Mo and Bob are going to be buring the midnight oil for the next few days. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall? ;) Obviously their selections in the draft will all be subject to what they have already programed to sign at this point and what they think they will be able to sign. And then FCT will have 8 draft picks and any trades they can pull off. Lots and lots of variables.
If I'm Mo and Bob I'm having a ball with this list to pick from. :D

Does anybody know if Toronto is at all interested in American youngsters? Rodrigo Lopez, Estuardo Sanchez, and Miguel Gonzalez, U-20 stars all, were left unprotected. For your pick from Chivas and NE, that could make since.

    Buddle???

I Think Buddle will be good in TO. I belive Buddle has played good under MO. He will be back to leading the MLS in goals.

I agree. Here was my list of picks on the N&A thread:

    Chi M, Brian Plotkin (YI)
    FCD F, Roberto Mina (YI)
    RSL M, Andy Williams (Can)
    Hou M/D, Adrian Serioux (Can)

With that list so far, you've got 2 YIs and 2 Canadians, so you're already guaranteed to be able to carry all your picks on your roster. Then I go on to something like:

    DCU M, Clyde Simms (S-I-US)
    Col D Mike Petke (S-I-US)
Rev M, Jose Cancela (SI) / M/D, James Riley (S-I-US)
    Gal D, Kyle Veris (YI)
    KCW D Tyson Wahl (YI)

and one wildcard--could be from NY, Columbus, Chivas.

Here you have no more than 4 senior americans/foreigners on the roster, 3 of whom are exempt. Not only can you keep all these guys, but it doesn't impinge on your foreigner allotment. You also have one YI left with which you could take a US player in the SuperDraft.

And this is an acknowledged hole in my research from the last list. I know very little about these guys, but if they've got anything going for them, and TFC thinks they're remotely willing to relocate, expect that one could go.

I think they are going to select Serioux and Andy Williams (which ofcourse means no Kreis, which i dunno if thats a loss or not), if Williams counts as a Canadian, which he no doubt should. Mo will probably then spend the rest of the draft picking up 1 or 2 (as previously mentioned) SIs and maybe a YI or two

    Sure things:
    SLC: Williams
    HOU: Serioux

Players I think about, and pick, depending on trades/salaries/slots/etc:

    LAC: Lopez-DEV, Sanchez-DEV, Borja-DEV, Regan, O'Brien
    CHI: Plotkin-DEV, Carr, Jaqua
    CLB: ......Cameron-DEV, Coiner, Kotschau, Moss
COL: ......Petke, Nkong, Kirovski, Noel, Gonzalez
DAL: Gbandi, Burse-DEV, Goodson, Yi, Mina-YI
DC: Simms, ....... Donnet, Prideaux, Dyachenko-DEV
    KC: ......Wahl-DEV, Van Der Bergh
    LAG: Veris-DEV,........ Martino, Gordon, Gardner-DEV
NE: Gonzalez-DEV, Riley, Larentowicz-DEV, Cancela, John
    NY: Buddle,...... O'Rourke

I may take a different player from NE, depending on what is needed on roster and/or trades.
I take the 10th player (from COL, CLB, or KC) based on what is most needed on roster and/or trades, probably a forward.

Lots of intriguing options in NE, DAL
Some intriguing young talent in Chivasland,

Lots of capable defenders available (Petke, Prideaux, Yi, Goodson, John, Kotschau, etc), but TFC has already signed a couple.

disclaimer: know less about young developmental players

Just a reminder of the current Canadians (or those apparently eligible), outside of Toronto, that are in MLS, with the 2 available:

    Andy Williams - RSL
    Adrian Serious - HOU

    Pat Onstad - HOU
    Dwayne DeRosario - HOU
    Ante Jazic - LAG
    Jack Stewart - RSL

Some picks could possibly be to trade for the other 4.

I'm not that familiar with most MLS players and their salaries. But these are the players I would like to see picked by MoJo.

    HOU- A.Serioux(versatile player)
    RSL- A.Williams(solid setup man)
    DAL- S.Valakari(veteran glue guy)
    LAG- K.Veris
    NEG- J.Cancela(good playmaker)
NYC- E.Buddle(good finisher in the box)
    DCU- D.Mediate
    CHI- C.J.Brown(veteran defender)
    COL- E.Denton
    CDC- R.Lopez

This would be the lineup i would go with

    4-3-3
    LF-Cancela
    RF-Williams
    CF-Buddle
    LM-Brennan
    RM-Valakari
    CM-Mediate
    LB- Pozniak
    RB- Serioux
    CB- Denton
    CB- Brown
    GK- Sutton
