Interesting stuff from Chrono in that one on the difference between the A League and MLS. No wonder Johnny Torres does so well there.

Whatever happened to that guy who played midfield in 1996. The American guy who played in Germany .. forget his name. Blond dood, Peter Woodring maybe ? He was pretty good. Is he in A-League ?

Good memory, Peter Woodring it was. He played in Germany from 1991-1995, having played for Wiesbaden, Hamburg SV, and lastly with SV Wehen.

After the Revs he played for the Chico Rooks (in the late 90's when they were a USL franchise,) he served as an assistant coach at the Univ. of California (Golden Bears), and has recently played for the Bolinas Team in the A-Division of the Marin Soccer League out in an Francisco. Think he's about 35 years-old by now.

    Woodring !

MagPie with an even better memory. Impressive. Is there anything you don't know ?

Peter is 35, wow, that makes me feel old at 31. Speaking of 31, I'm now going thru that phase of liking good new players then recognizing some of them were born after the Empire Strikes Back was released ... this is somewhat freaking me out.

-- Peter Woodring grows up in Marin County (California) where he eventually wins a scholarship to play for the University of California. He is the all-time single season assist leader…

-- Graduated from the University of California in 1991…

-- Considered a move to play outdoors with the San Francisco Blackhawks of the American Professional Soccer League (APSL) but on the recommendation of a teammate at Cal, took up a trial with Wiesbaden of the Germany “3rds Division” back in Fall of 1991…

-- Woodring spent the 1991/92 season with Wiesbaden, apparently doing enough to catch the eye of scouts with Hamburger SV who were in the Bundesliga at the time. He might have been with SV Wiesbaden 1899 when they competed in the Oberliga Hessen in 1991/92...

-- Woodring joined Hamburg towards the start of the 1992/93 season. He went on to play in six first-team matches covering the 1992/93 season, and the first few matches of the 1993/94 season. He appeared in the following matches:

Hamburger SV vs. 1. FC Saarbrücken: November 20, 1992 (Played full 90 minutes in Hamburg’s 3-0 win.)

Hamburger SV vs. 1. FC K'lautern: November 28, 1992 (Started but was replaced in the 68th minute by Jan Furtok in this 2-2 draw.)

Hamburger SV vs. Eintracht Frankfurt: December 12, 1992 (Started but was replaced in the 34th minute by Michael Spies in this 3-3 draw.)

Hamburger SV vs. 1. FC Nürnberg: March 5, 2003 (Started but was replaced in the 67th minute by Karsten Bäron in this 1-0 loss.)

Hamburger SV vs. SG Wattenscheid 09: October 9, 1993 (Came on as a substitute for Valdas Ivanauskas in the 66th minute in Hamburg’s 2-1 win.)

Hamburger SV vs. Borussia Dortmund: October 16, 1993 (Started but was replaced in the 79th minute by Michael Spies in Hamburg’s 2-1 win.)

According to any number of Hamburg fan pages he didn’t especially impress in these matches, and spent a majority of his time playing for the Amateurs.

-- Apparently his play with Hamburg was enough to warrant consideration for the U.S. National Team. Woodring He earned his first of three caps with the U.S. National Team on February 13, 1993 in a 1-0 loss to Russia. He went on to play (for less than ten minutes) in a 2-0 loss to Brazil in New Haven, CT in U.S. Cup action in early-June of 1993, as well as a 1-0 loss to Uruguay in Ambato, Ecuador during the 1993 Copa America…

-- After having spent his time the Nat’s, Woodring accepted an offer to play with Aalborg BK of Denmark’s First Division in 1994….

-- After a spell with the Danish club he returned to Germany to play for SV Wehen 1926 in the 3rd Division (Oberliga) where I believe he played in 11 matches during the 1995 season…

-- Woodring then returned to the States where he played for both the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks of the APSL and the Hawaii Tsunami in 1995, then playing in the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues Northwest Pro Division…

-- Woodring was selected by New England with the 15th overall pick of the 1996 MLS Draft. For purposes of comparison, the Dallas Burn’s Jason Kreis was selected by Dallas with the 43rd overall pick that year. Woodring played a total of 21 games through the 1996 MLS season for the Revs, netting one goal and earning 3 assists…

-- Woodring was released to waiver on March 10, 1997, this after having scored in a pre-season match only days earlier against Dallas…

-- Woodring became a first-year assistant coach with his alma mater (Univ.of California) in September of 1998…

-- Woodring retires from soccer in 1998 and returns to his hometown in Marin, CA to work as a financial analyst…

-- Woodring played in an alumni match on August 28, 1999 against the Cal varsity team. Also playing with Woodring for the alumni was ex-Rev Richard Weiszman. Woodring got the lone goal for the alumni in a 3-1loss. Woodring also playing in the 2000 varsity vs. alumni contest, scoring both goals for the alumni in a 4-2 loss…

-- In 2000 he played for Olympic Club, a team in the Major Division of the San Francisco Soccer Football League. He scored five goals over the course of that season…

-- In 2003 Woodring has played for the Bolinas Team in the Marin Soccer League in San Francisco. Woodring can be seen in the picture below (pictured in the front row wearing red shorts...)

    Hilarious.

Does the Magpie do players wives? Dig up the skinny on Brasil's Milene Domingues, Ronaldo's wife ;-)

    Not so hilarious:

It's the eve of the Revs most important game of the season - and there haven't been any posts in the REVS-CREW Pre Match Chatter thread in the last 24 hours.

Yet another hint that maybe the Revs fan base really has eroded.

You paying attention Lou Lou Lou?

    Do you even care?

It's going to pour rain tomorrow...

... the Revs always win when it's raining.

2-1 Revs win. Goals by Brown and Joseph... I can feel it.

    'Nuff said.
