It's definitely leveled off since Chelsea equalized but the first 15-20 minutes when Chelsea was pushing to score was pretty good.

these two never play great matches...
im not disagreeing that it seems pointless to do it as regularly... im jus saying the role of the olympics have little or nothing to do with the regularity of the tournament...

and I think these nations would rather be European champs than olympic champs

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I thought this would be the best place for this. Who is your Premier League team of the season?

    For me:

    ----------------Howard
    Johnson---Ferdinand---Hangeland---Cole
    -----------Lampard---Gerrard
    Ronaldo---------Cahill--------Arshavin
    ----------------Rooney

This lineup looks ALOT different than my team would've in January/February, so that begs the question why do they vote for player of the year at that time? You could've made arguments that Young, Agbonlahor, Ireland, Anelka, Arteta, Torres, and Vidic would've all been on the team at the New Year, but I think the guys I chose had the best full seasons (of course Arshavin only had a half a season, my my word what a half!)

    Lacks Xabi Alonso.

Alonso was probably the best player in the league this season.

I guess I just can't see how being a Euro U-21 champ is greater than being an Olympic champ when that is what you are (or were) qualifying for via the Euro U-21's.

The U-17's and U-19's make sense to me as you can say you are the Euro champs and then also go on to the World Cup of your age group, there is a natural progression. Even the senior team has a natural progression in the Confederations Cup, fwiw. I also think players would take the U-17 WC and U-20 WC over the Euro U-17 and Euro U-19 champs.

Then there's the Euro U-21's which are just there, kinda meaningless. Even the other confederations acknowledged that age group tournament as a qualifier for the Olympics, and will most likely scrap it now as there is no use for it.

Also not arguing just bouncing around ideas and hoping the Euro U-21 is dropped in the near future as I feel it just adds to the clutter of international competition and serves no purpose.

the olympics are not taken as serious to most European nations as much as it does to everyone else... they see the "qualifying for" as something that happens with it, but they revere the european championship much more, from what I can see... they had to change it to an u21 championship with no overage players because Europe protested against the old format

I dont mind the u21 championship, as long as it is just every 3-4 years, instead of every 2

I agree. It's just a bit weird that every other confed would acknowledge it as quali's and that it's instead held in high regard in europe. especially now it will prob be the only confed with a u21 tourney as the others have no use for it. U-17 and U-19 make sense in europe and everywhere else, this just puzzles me.

On top of that the play is misleading. Last time we had players like Babel and Drenthe being hailed as saviors.

I didn't want either Club to win the FA Cup today, but I guess it would have been nicer if Chelsea hadn't won it today.

I wasn't saying so much that europe cares about the olympics, as much as I was saying that the euro u21 tournament is even more pointless and nonsensical than before.

You can put Scholes and his tackles on that list as far as I'm concerned.

also Diego Forland won the pichichi last night.. 32 goals in 33 matches is pretty stupid... 9 goals in his last 5 is insane... the goal he scored last night was ridiculous...

"You can put Scholes and his tackles on that list as far as I'm concerned. "

Two things come out of that statement:

    i) Howard is overrated

    ii) Scholes is overrated

Why are you bringing Howard up in the argument involving Scholes? We are in agreement over Howard.

And yet, he could have easily been sold to you by Liverpool last Summer. Which makes you wonder how much of a clue even the world's top managers have about where the quality lays in their squad.

    its for the whole season...

dont worry, Arshavin is gonna win POY next season...

damn, Figo, Nedved, and Maldini all retired today... crazy

    Rafa doesnt know, lol

if Rafa believed in his squad from the start of the season, Liverpool would probably have won the premiership

the audio cut out at the end of the first video, but Leo says something along the lines of "we will win the treble again next season" which is why Pique and Pep had a look of shock, lol

what a goal by Juanfran, he is going to save Osasuna today
