"Every Day is Yaya's Birthday": The Other Teams thread [R]

When I first saw you have 35 I was wondering what that meant. Thought it was connected to Palmeiras.
A few days later I saw 32, then 31, and I finally figured it out. Interesting variety the way you found the numbers.
I decided to wait until 23 so I can do Spain's squad, although with non-squad members Arbeloa (17) and Valdes (12) I have no other options for those numbers without disrupting the rest of the list.
I thought about using Spanish players from the past for a few numbers but found it much easier to use active players for the entire countdown.
Oh, and thanks for the idea. I'm also doing this countdown on another board I frequent (UK-based with predominant English posters).

I actually have a funny story about that board.
A few times I mentioned this forum and that I'm 'unclesox' here. One member said he was familiar with this forum. He said he doesn't come here anymore and called @os_mutante a dick.
I asked him what his handle was here.
He said Erick.
On the UK board he goes by (are you ready)... Teso Dos Bichos.

 

A couple of weeks ago he said something negative about Real Madrid.
I replied, "I thought you a Real fan?"
"Nah, I'm anti-Barcelona."
He still has a go at Barca every chance he gets. Not so much Messi as he used to.
I forgot that he's a Man Utd fan... and I didn't know he's Mexican. Well, anyway he was pimping them during World Cup qualifying and always gives a few updates on the team leading up to this summer.

Teso? Yeah, he's never left this board so far as I know. He lives in Scotland, I believe.
But the other guy, Erick, is gone afaik. But Erick (who I think is Mexican but lives in the U.S.) is on another message board I frequent, and over there he goes by 'Teso Dos Bichos'. I suppose he views the Teso from this board as a hero or something and so adopted his name hoping to live up to the troll status on that board that the BS Teso has here.
I personally thought he did well as a troll simply calling himself 'Erick'. After all, he did get banned.

 

Del Bosque is going Italy 2006 with this squad. One last hurrah for the veterans and hope for the best

And a related question: if a player is declared unable to play due to injury before (or early in) the tournament, can the NT replace him with someone that was on the 30-man squad?
