Eh, ma che catzzo? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. First Pescara had a perfectly good goal taken away from them when the game was 0-0 with Torino, then Milan screw Bologna out of a victory after the ref fails to see an obvious handball by Seedorf in the box, then proceeds to hand them a fraudulent penalty after Ibrahimovic takes a dive. Are the refs getting crappier, or perhaps... is Italian soccer still ripe with corruption?
^ that was a legit goal....but then they called off a matri goal too when he was Not offside...so it turned out even
The controversy surrounding the Milan-Juventus match should draw greater scrutiny to the entire officiating crew, not just the referee. I've read Tagliavento awarded Muntari's goal but was overruled by the linesman. With better positioning, Tagliavento (incorrectly) deferred to him. This was a huge blunder and it turned out the same linesman incorrectly called Matri's first goal offside. In addition, two separate incidents have come to light where a Milan player (Borriello and Muntari, respectively) punched a Juventus player. With both incidents not seen by any member of the officiating crew, neither player was sent off. So, though this will not go down as Tagliavento's best match, some (and perhaps more) of the blame should go to the linesmen as well as the 4th official.

Question, if Vidal was outside the field, that mean he's not included count for offsides, like Pannuci in 2008, right? Not that it matters, play went on and nothing at all was called. Bad weekend for refs this last one.
So now refs are suppose to ask Players what happended? How about UEFA and FIFA bring Soccer/Football into the 21st century! Goal Line Technology and TV Replays for with 5th Ref are way overdue. Platini: Buffon went overboard “Buffon has gone too far with his words and between Turin and Milan there should not be war. If the referee had asked him and he had said ‘no’, then that would have figured him to be a liar. “If I had scored a goal with my hand and the referee had asked me, I would have said I had scored it with my hand. [Diego] Maradona didn’t do it? No-one asked him.” - football-italia Gianluigi Buffon reveals even if he had realised Sulley Muntari’s effort had crossed the line, he “certainly wouldn’t have told the referee!” - football-italia .
TV Replays will never go with football. This isn't the NFL where there is a rest every 30 seconds. Part of what makes it football is its constant game-flow, no interruptions, no breaks, no time for the ref to check a replay. Goal-line technology where there is some buzzer or something if it crosses the line is the only thing I could see working. Adding another lineman near the goals was tested before in a CL a few years back with mixed results, that's another possibility.
in theory soccer is supposed to be free flowing but when you got guys who hit the ground every 5 seconds trying to eat away at the clock you begin to wounder if something more productive can be done such as look at a replay and seeing there was no contact or something to move things along...
This. There is already time being wasted for players faking injury or people arguing with refs...etc....thats the same time it takes to look at a replay. also i think replay should be limited to like 1 per half. That way coaches can only take advantage ONCE. Goal line technology is a must however.
Yea but a player wasting time by falling adds what, maybe 30 seconds or so? Do you know how long it will take for the replay thing to take? You don't realize it when watching football because they typically go to a commercial break, but sometimes the stop in play could be four or five minutes, at a minimum. If each team gets one per half, you could be adding on 15 - 20 minutes to each game. That won't work. Games fit in perfectly in their 2 hour slots.
no it takes longer than that...theres been times where it takes minutes! in the end they really dont add any more than 4-5 min. if the game had many stops....im not saying take as long as NFL....i think NFL is bs anyways...just a bunch of time wasting to show commercials. They can put a cap on it...saying ref has 1-2 min. to review and either make a decision or the call stays. we're talking about once each half, it wont take much time.
It works well in rugby tbh, and generally it is quite quick and you will have less obstructions than there too.
... Serie A Refs are not up to Par Walter Mazzarri admits Napoli “did not deserve to win” due to refereeing errors in Parma - foortball-italia .
In the Milan -Juve match it is clear that the ref is just one of those cardboard cut-outs they stuck on the sideline. So don't blame him. Even if he was real he would have been distracted by the defender waving to him. We also don't need goal line technology. What we should do is just have a goal line ref since clearly they need to be that much closer. And since the ball will be hitting them frequently there will be no doubt about the goals. And all the 4th officials throughout the league should be cardboard cutouts of Collina just to raise morale(and qaulity).
