I can't believe @Ismitje hasn't responded yet. I can't think of anyone better to answer this question.
OK, you just spoilered. But... well done. The goal I'm talking about in San Jose v Houston is ***************************** sick though. I've hit a ball like that maybe once in my lifetime, and definitely not on frame. It was an Etcheverry-style goal, albeit the wrong foot and not a set piece. So, nevermind.
RSL have had a game day duck and a game day cat, but not a training ground gator. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/new-toronto-fc-signing-has-bite
There's a pair of young attackers in MLS who are worth watching every game: Cade Cowell for San Jose, and Caden Clark for NYRB. Both are 17 and won't be long for the league, so watch them while you can. Here's a video of all five of Clark's goals, last season and this: https://www.mlssoccer.com/video/wat...tch-caden-clark-s-bangers-only-5-career-goals
Both of those young men will be USMNT stars. Just tremendous talent. Some tv announcers are going to be tongue-tied because of the similarities of their names.
Doesn't look - from availability - like Vancouver is selling any tickets. I would go just to laugh at the Rapids.
I was thinking about WSL tonight. Could it be that the agreement for VW to come to SL included a provision (entered by RSL) that WSL may not sell local tickets to its games? The reasoning being RSL wouldn’t want to lose ticket sales to WSL.
Holy Cow! MLS clobbered InterMiami! That’s what they get for having the audacity to cheat large without NY or LA in their name. https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-...e$22m-cap-hit-over-designated-player-dealings
I guess the Beckham rule didn't come into play here. I like the blub further down saying the previous highest fine was to DLH for 150k
Most of the comments have been about how the league dropped the news late on a Friday of one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Seattle signed four players to emergency contracts - injuries and call-ups meant they were down to 12 outfield players. So up came four from Tacoma Defiance in the USL. They started the second-youngest lineup in MLS history - five teenagers including a 15- and a 16-year old. In stoppage they subbed in Alex Villanueva, born in Herriman (2002) but part of the Seattle academy. So they played at least six teenagers. They went into Austin and won, 1-0, on a worldie from Ruidiaz who subbed in around the 60th minute.
Dallas’ Ricardo Pepi, age 18, became the youngest MLS player to earn a hat trick. He has 7 goals in 6 games and is the leading American scorer in MLS.
can someone explain the story here with this kid? He played in the RSL academy in 17/18 but then moved? WTF?
he's been gone for quite some time now. To be able to pull a kid that was in the RSL academy out seems a pretty big task, even for Garth
Well, also there in Seattle is one Craig Waibel. (I know it wasn't him given the timeline, but it's an interesting development to see him there now.)
The Athletic article about his life over the past few years was a really interesting read and prime The Athletic material.
