🚨 BREAKING🚨Harry Maguire is out training with #ENG today ahead of the start of #Euro2020 pic.twitter.com/t3y0TnNB7Q— Football Daily (@footballdaily) June 10, 2021
If Harry has only just started training with others and given the period he was out, then pretty sure he doesn't play against Croatia. Apparently England were testing a back 3 with Luke @ LCB. I suspect reason being Mings may have played himself out of a start last two friendlies - at international level he is a penalty provider / red-card walking.
Dear England by Gareth Southgate | The Players' Tribune (theplayerstribune.com) Say what you will about his abilities as a coach, but he sure is pretty eloquent. Don't see him and England doing it, but let's see if he can at least match his feat from the 2018 WC.
Anyone have a particularly favorite Euro tournament? I'd have to go with 2008. Followed Turkey closely after their crazy match vs Czech Republic, then the late heroics that got them past Croatia in the KO round, and nearly squeaking by Germany. And of course you can't forget Arshavin breaking out and Spain winning their first major trophy in years. It was a wild ride.
Picking France to win with Belgium and my outside team and England as my special interest team. Player I'm looking for to seeing is Phil Foden and Dean Henderson. Let's see how it unfolds. Kick off soon.
Ready for the Yilmaz show today. Denmark are my dark horse to make a run. Hoping Scotland can surprise some people too. Think England have a strong chance with all of the home games. Anyone know if there is an option for streaming outside of the ESPN+ "Multi-view" ??? Seems kinda wack so far.
"Giorgio Chiellini's first cap was against Prussia" was a personal favorite tweet I saw earlier today.
Against Carthage would have been even better. Interesting how we've seen very little of Turkey going forward so far. Solid defensively though but Italy have come close and you feel it's a matter of time. Perhaps bring on Chiesa in relative short order?
Not impressed by Italy so far. Lots of technically sound players in that team but nobody that can beat a man and break a team down. Also, I'm not sure Immobile is the right choice to lead the line against teams that sit back. It's not where he excels.
Insigne is more comfortable playing thru the middle and he'd a better fit there today. Bring on Chiesa, who is more of a true winger anyhow for Immobile and slide Insigne over centrally and that should change La Squadra's fortunes in the 2nd period.
Unlucky Demiral with the og. It was coming though for Italy. Well played from Berardi though. Turkey have been very disappointing so far. Make that 2-0 for Italy: Immobile. Completely deserved. 3-0 now from Insigne: Turkey have work to do in their other 2 games...
Italy looking a little better this half but I'm not sure how much is then turning it up vs Turkey having a meltdown in defense.
Big (and pretty decisive) win for Italy against the other favorite of the group in their opening game. Doubt this guy will be getting any tonight after how Turkey played today...
So, Italy stuffed Turkey Apparently first time Italy have scored more than two at the Euros - only took 39 games!
This might be the best prediction we've ever seen?! 😱 pic.twitter.com/LwisOFpX9Z— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) June 11, 2021 Order of the goals aside, this is kind of crazy. Let's hope that he had some money riding on this game (and the final score).
What's your takeaway from this Italy #passmap? pic.twitter.com/tjfouLIonY— Between The Posts (@BetweenThePosts) June 11, 2021
Italy looked smooth out there but were never really tested. Wonder if they make a run ala 2012 or crumble against a slightly better side.

Disappointed on how Turkey played this game. Except for Yokuslu they are not a team to sit back. They got punished for it. Please someone explain to me why some teams play in their home country? Italy has two games in Italy, is that fair? it feels like a home game for them versus an actual neutral ground.
Big fan of Bonucci & Chiellini but can you imagine the Italian team pressing high as Mancini likes them to against teams with fast attackers. I think Mancini will have to significantly change their tactics for the knockout stages from a high-press to more of a low-block.
Not overly impressed with Italy but they did the business against what is in front of them. Looking forward to the slate of games today. Should see more exciting games. Footy is back to normal, well almost.
