I thought he left it all on the field last week, but the problem was PSG got absolutely owned in midfield and kept giving the ball away and there is not really anything he can do about that,

we understand it's Neymar we're talking about right? leadership isn't coming from him.

good performance is about all you'll get if he doesn't freak out again

Neymar seems to understand what is required of him today. In theory at least: let's see if he can actually put it into practice and deliver this time.

Which is why I said he has to inspire his team to step up.

But he is not the kind of guy that can drive his team on

In terms of high performance, i see leadership as performative

If he can deliver to his own elite levels, that is leadership. Ironically tracking back and getting on the ball deep in midfield might not be what the team needs.

Which makes me wonder that PSG's real issue is the lack of leaders in central midfield

When the chips were down, the likes of KDB and Gundo took control of the game - but as as unit. That is hard for one man to stop ....

yea but in terms of performance we already he know that. he generally doesn't have stinkers imo. good base level. lead by example sure.

a leader he is not though. no leadership qualities for me. he's made Paris better talent wise but that's about it for me

Most around here love Ander Herrera and he's starting. Lets see if he can bring the glory tonight.

And also, if Di Maria scores twice to beat Man City, is all forgiven?

I think Herrera is the one player in the middle for PSG who can provide that leadership they need.

So much for PSG's good start: Mahrez gives City the lead.

When that ball went wide just expected Kimpembe to slide block that shot or Navas to stop it because it was dead central. Nice move from City, but very poor from PSG.

    - Not getting sent off {apparently been sent off 11 times in his career? A lot for a player who doesnt really defend}
    - Not starting confrontations on the field
    - Not getting desperate and trying to make things happen on his own. Last year's champions league final, every time he got the ball he tried to make something happen on his own. Ignored Mbappe plenty of times.

He just doesnt always seemed locked in fully to the actual football. This may not have been the case last game vs City but imo these are some of the things that have derailed him in big moments.

I went on rant, probably not even related to your point, but I just feel some kind of way about Neymar. On talent alone, he is at worst 3rd best player in the world. He's had bad luck with injuries, but he should be doing more overall.

    If he stayed at Barca....

A bit of an exaggeration I think due to the fact he changed his fashion sense living à Paris. ie. oshkosh bigosh size.

City seem content to sit back and see if PSG can break them down. And so far, PSG seem to not have a clue how to do that.
