Agreed , but as per Low he did state - I believe so at least - to play a fast pressing game....or was that Flick?
I left it out on purpose because I think in those 1 game threads it is better to just post away like there is no tomorrow. And posts can be quoted for bragging rights
Definitely can't see us pressing them with a high line, it's a complete recipe for disaster with mbappes pace
I also think a draw is most likely given the first game is usually cagey and Deschamps is pretty pragmatic. 1-1.

Agreed - and there is also significant tactical difference compared to '18 In '18 Germany had older, slower players - so committed numbers forwards in a slow, sterile possession against teams that sat back. Then of course germany got hit on the break like suckers - e.g. the hilarious sight of Ozil trying to defend a counter in his own box because the likes of kimmich, sami K etc were miles up field This time Germany have pace in attack so will prefer to sit back themselves, and likely press in the medium trap Given the talent France have in midfield and at the back, they may actually see more possession - which would suit germany
Germany has real speed upfront... hence I still think that at one point we should bring Werner on just to make those runs and setup a Muller or so to net in
Agree, Werner been deadly for Chelsea on counters, it's his runs that caused havoc against city in the champions league final
Are you going to chew your hat if Germany wins the whole thing? You had made a similar statement in 2014 and added that in your signature after Germany won the World Cup
Having 5 subs changes a lot. It makes things that much more unpredictable. Hummels has some quality on the ball. Lately it has become common for teams to create width, cycle the ball, and then play long passes out of the back through the middle via a ball playing center-back. Even if teams lose the ball, at least they lose it deep in the opposition's half and they can press opponents to win back the ball or force an error. I've seen Greece do this to remarkable effect under our Dutch manager van't Schip. Werner has had confidence issues. Reminds me a lot of Torres at Chelsea. Vialli, Shevchenko... there are quite a few great strikers who have struggled at Chelsea over the years. Hopefully he turns a page like Havertz seems to be doing now. Portugal's midfield isn't quite as dominant as France. I think Germany can probably afford to keep things a little more even against them. France however will be difficult. Pogba is a little like Pirlo and can control the park with his passing. Kante shields the defense and allows France to add numbers elsewhere, be it up front or in defense. With him on the park, it's like having a 12th player. That French engine room will be hard to beat.
Jogi always likes the surprise element aka giving relatively an inexperience player a chance in a big game. He done this before (Rolfes against Portugal Euro 08, Mustafi WC 14, Can EC 16). So we might see Neuhaus in first 11 v France.

I would fight for the team until I die. It's just France, it can't be that hard. Come on, boys! (Obviously slightly hyped.)
Hello! I have not posted here since many years though I have been reading a lot of the posts, especially recently. I have a thought about the the midfield discussion and that the german midfield will be overrunned with Kroos and Gündogan. I am guessing that Löw is thinking that France usually dont press that hard (like Spain did 6-0) and that Kroos and Gündogan are safe with the ball. From what i have seen France often winns the ball and counter from their own half. Löw might think that these players rarely loses the ball and want to minimize those oppurtunities for France. Compared to f. Eg. Can who gives away the ball ocassionally. Hard to tell of its a successfull move though.
