    Re: FIRST to Qualify

As ygdrasil said, not a lot and who cares about anyone who does anyway.

    Like what?

You predicted we'd struggle at mightly old wembley. I predicted we'd find it so-so and win. And we did didn't we.

    What else?

They couldn't create chances to get a chance to score.

I don't care what he did with Brasil, the old man is an arsehole, simple as that. And this isn't the first time he's acted out of order. What a great example to your players huh?

We did struggle at wembley. If not for bad finishing by the English (and terrible keeping as well) we would most certainly have lost that match.

It's a bit freaky with the Italians. The main reason in my opinion why they always give us trouble and beat us when we meet in big tournaments is that Germany's previous game almost always went into-extra time against a very strong opponent while Italy has a normal 90 minute game against a not so strong side. That is the main factor why Italy always seems to win against us. If they don't have that advantage (1962, 1978, 1996 for example), the games always end in draws.

I don't see why thats not a fair assesment to make, in such tournaments rest goes a long way. Then again, you have to ask yourself why things always fall into place like that for Germany and Italy? Freaky indeed!

    Re: FIRST to Qualify

No, it was an even match on the balance of play. I watched it three times.

German contributed a lot with possession and nice passing. England with breaking quick wing play. Sudden bursts. They had more chances. We scored more goals.

England virtually never held possession or try to work the defence open after the 18th minute. That was when the young players decided to stop being scared.
They always either lost it, or booted it up the field from the back four.

They did have more clear cut chances.

First 12 and last 10 mins of the 2nd half, they couldn't get near the ball.
Middle part we gave it away and let them attack quickly down the wings.

From the 18th minute on we began to dominate possession.
Especially after the 26th minute goal, we had much more possession till half time.

If we struggled then so did they. You sound like a little kid who only remembers the goal chances :p

The first goal is not robinson's fault at all. Schneider meant to hit it that way. Look at the few seconds before he hit it. It was going in, and robinson had to jump back and palm it out. Terry and ferdinand were asleep.

Robinson's only "fault" is to anticipate a cross to kuranyi and be off his line early. Not a shot from schneider. And schneider saw that and aimed it at the goal.

And when they see the keeper move backwards all of a sudden, why weren't terry and ferdinand moving in to reduce the space between them and keeper?? Only kuranyi got that idea, but he is not a defender unfortunately for england.

    And we won 2-1.

What else is exaggerated that I say? You never told me...

Sorry, I didn't actually see the match. It's just what I head so I should have said so.

    Why? I'm getting envious:)

    But still no wins. ;)

Even if they play shite and we play well, they manage to defeat us (look at a certain friendly in Stuttgart).

Well they constantly fine our clubs or even kick them out of European competitions because of so called "incidents". But that is a topic for another thread and forum.

Crunch time for England in group E and Italy and France in group B.
I'm really curious which of these teams is gonna make it. I'd like to see France get ahead of Italy somehow, but I'm a bit sceptic.

I can't believe France or Italy will miss the tournament. It's most likely going to be France missing out because they screwed themselves by losing to the Scotts twice.

    Holland, Italy/France, England, Portugal, Spain

All these teams could end up finishing runners up in their group and in Pot 2. I have a feeling we'll be in the group of death again!

Bring them all on! Preferably Portugal or Spain.

Frankly, I don't think it matters. At full strength, there isn't a team in Europe that could beat us.

I agree with him and we've finally earned the right to feel like that. It's been a rough couple of years for the DFB.
