I noticed we’ve got no thread to discuss other teams and how they’re doing, so I opened this one. In group E England had an easy task beating Israel yesterday (3-0). Whether the Israelis were impressed by the large crowd I don’t know, but they got what was deserved for a much too defensive approach. Good to see Michael Owen recovering, he scored a very beautiful goal indeed, though he also missed out on some good chances. I still think England might really fail in their group if they can’t beat Russia on Wednesday. They are simply playing too slowly, without imagination. Iceland vs. Spain 1-1, how pathetic is that? They can consider themselves lucky that Northern Ireland lost in Latvia. In our own group, the Czechs seem to remain rather unimpressive. Couldn’t watch the match, but the final score suggests that San Marino made them work really hard. Too bad that Ireland conceded a late equaliser in Slovakia, otherwise it would look quite good for them. Anyway it’s going to be very interesting to see which team can get the second spot.
