The non-existence of this thread until just drives home how sad it is how little playing time Horvath has had. But he starts today against fellow promotion playoff hopefuls Sheffield United. Alex Mighten on the bench after DNPs in the last two matches. I imagine he'll be playing goalkeeper.
Punches away a free kick that was inswinging to a dangerous spot. He would have had no chance had Sharp gotten a head to that one, but Horvath kept his concentration and cleared it. Might have been ruled offside anyway.
Well run counterattack by the Blades, largely by Gibbs-White, ends with a relatively long blast (23'?) by Berge right at Horvath that he punches away. Actual save, but pretty close to a 100% save expectation on that one.
Forest earned a PK, but Brennan Johnson takes and has it saved by Foderingham, who has been the busier keeper today.
Forest supporters chanting USA. Not because Horvath is doing anything, he's just preparing for a goal kick.
He handled the rebound poorly if he wants to be a top keeper. Saw it clearly, body set behind it, plenty of time to see it and was only able punch it, with both fists tamely 5 yards away to a player who put it dangerously across goal. Nothing came of it, but TBH that ball needs to be pushed much further away. Not good. Best part of match? English commentary at it’s best. Forest cross has a player push it out. Replay clearly shows SU player pulling him back by shirt. Blatant. It is shown a dozen times at different angles during the half. Blatant. All he can ever say is what a great defensive play. He is oblivious and can’t grasp why they are showing it so much, or is an old world English footballer where only if there is blood, or broken bones can there possibly be foul.
Winner of this match gets Liverpool in the Cup quarterfinal, so virtually guaranteed a spot in the semifinal.
Holmes playing on the right of the front line of a 3-4-3, it appears. Horvath hasn't been on camera since kickoff, but I'm mostly sure he's there.
Holmes steal in the Forest box, and he makes a no-look cross toward a dangerous spot just before the ball goes over the end line, but headed away.
Holmes receives a pass up the wing and crosses waist high into the zone of uncertainty. Horvath comes for it and probably gets fingertips to it, but is a little lucky that his slight deflection doesn't go right to Huddersfield's Thomas, who was there.
Huddersfield goal on a corner kick. Lees looses his coverage and has a point blank look five yards from the near post. Horvath can't fight through the bodies to try to make a punch on the ball. Maybe could have come for the better/harder - the corner was well-placed but lofted so maybe he had time to navigate his way there.
Equalizer for Forest - incredible line-breaking pass by Garner through all three lines, excellent defensive hustle by Sarr to prevent the first shot, but the loose ball goes right to Surridge who has a huge portion of the far side of goal to shoot at from eight yards out, and makes no mistake. 1-1.
Lowe pushes Pearson over the advertising boards well after the play, and gets a yellow. The Huddersfield guys don't even seem mad.
HORVATH SAVE for his first really good play of the game. Holmes slides a pass across the top of the box, first man dummies it, second man shoots it beyond Horvath's dive onto the far post. Rebound goes right to Thomas, who blasts low on frame. Horvath got up and back down to smother it and give no rebound, which was necessary because Holmes was ready to be first man to the rebound.
Switching to the Prem match, but Horvath wasn't exactly convincing through the first half hour. No aerial command, sloppy collecting of mediocre shots. Lots of criticism from the color commentator.
Holmes called for a foul tracking back on defense wide of the penalty area - iffy call, dangerous Forest FK ... And Forest score on it. Yates heads home a great Garner FK.
Made a big save off a rebound after. He’s seemingly capable as a really high level shot stopper but he’s just not a consistent presence.
Holmes long diagonal ball leads to another corner. Forest again look vulnerable on a set piece but no goal this time, at least.
