Ever hear the expression, "Buy low, sell high"???

If you're a German team, and you think TNT is a player, what better time to buy him than after an injury-plagued "off" year when his value is relatively low?

There are plenty of guys out there that can be bought for cheap and that will eventually produce more. German teams aren't into wasting money and at this point, I think they would be on Taylor Twellman. Buy Dempsey if you want a bargain with some potential. Taylor will be content to make his money in MLS and be the big fish in the small pond, just like another guy over on the west coast is doing (LD).

He'd be crazy to go back. He's a GOD here and just another American there.

On the other side of that coin, If he plays in Europe, then BA would be sure to call because we all know that Euro based players are better. :D

    No.

He just got a new deal last year. Given that his production is down this year, he has no leverage to renegotiate again. Not to mention, when MLS renegotiates with a player who is still under contract they insist on a 4-5 year committment.

Taylor's drop in production may actually work in his favor to get back to Europe. Last year there was no way MLS was going to let him go unless a team payed an astronomical price (which no team was doing for anyone last year). MLS viewed him along with several other young stars as virtually "untouchable" for purchase as the hope was to market the young talent to grow the league. Given his slow (for him) year, the emergence of Clint and Noonan for the Revs as legitimate young talents, MLS might be more willing to part ways for a reasonable price.

Taylor's game is an excellent fit for Germany. He has been there before and liked it. The salary offers are probably 7 x to 8 x what he is making here. At age 23 he'd be nuts not to try it if the situation is good. Don't be surprised to see a "training deal" over the Winter that turns into something permanent if the German team sees something they like.

Stoner and Waldo didn't elaborate on the conversation, but did say that it could be a winter training spell, a loan, or a flat-out transfer. Then they said that playing in Germany will help him get ready for the World Cup. Yeah, like Bruce will just say, what the hell, Taylor, why don't you just meet us at the airport and save the USSF the cost of a plane ticket.

mathis basically benched himself after that little incident with the coach...had he been a professional he would be seeing some PT every weekend. I don;t see twellman doing that

These days, Mathis would have to regard the bench as a step up.

The difference in personal work ethic between TnT and Clint Mathis is pretty large. Taylor has been in Germany and, as Dr. Jay pointed out, was quite successful there. The reason he came back was due to the coach/club saying, 'no matter how good you are, you don't get to the top team until you are older, period.' He jumped to the US and has been quite successful here too (people can argue that a lot, but 47 goals in 73 games is pretty successful!)

I hope he gets a 'training deal' in Germany and keeps himself sharp without getting overworked over the winter. This is about getting better as a player and making money as a professional, remember he didn't play that much in the beginning of the season so he probably isn't all that 'worn down'.....

I would look forward to following Twellman in Europe. I wonder if he'll sign a 3 month loan a la Brian McBride and Everton two seasons ago?
