So, there is a soccer tournament, and if enough people are interested, we can have an ESC team in the event. We did this a few years ago and it was pretty fun, even though we kicked ass in the first game and got kind of smoked in the next two. But anyway. Check out these dudes Note, there will likely be an entry fee of around $ 4-50 a person, as I think the entry fee is around $ 4-500 and they usually let you have up 10 guys/gals on a team. The club would take the 25 free tickets and likely sell them at $ 10 each to raise money for the club, but, anyway, that's TBD. More details below: What we need: 1) About 10 people to play on the team. You don't have to be Pele, but try not to be Daniel ********ing Garipe out there either. You have to be in the ESC to play on the team, or, have a friend in the ESC at least. Priority goes to ESC members though. 2) 1 guy to "run" the team. We'll help out as we can, but the Capitan will be responsible for choosing the team, coordinating a practice or two, deciding on who plays, and taking care of everything else. The Club will be the Abramovitch to your Mourinho, but you're the damn Mourinho for this day, so pretty much anything that comes up, you have to deal with it. If you are thinking about playing, please note: 1) The DC game on Sunday, Aug. 10th is at 5pm. You'll probably have to show up at something like 8 or 9am and play until sometime between noon and 3pm (or until we get eliminated ). The games are usually at Giants Stadium and on the field. 2) You are committing to play all 3 games and take them somewhat seriously. Like, more seriously than Bruce Arena took coaching our team last year. Your commitment means we aren't giving someone else a spot, so don't say you want to be in and then bail because you found out it creates a time conflict with American Idol tryouts. :angry: 3) You should be in somewhat good shape to play. Again, it's not a marathon, but we will need people who can run for 20 minutes a game (or whatever), 3 games in 4-5 hours. So, just keep that in mind. 4) Remember, you are there to have fun, but you're also representing us to the front office, players on the team and to other fans. So you can't be a total disaster out there going Cantona on the Ref if he blows a call, etc. 5) All decisions of the capitan are final. So, if 11 dudes show up and we can only take 10, don't plan on being able to appeal your benching to the Hague or anything. Just remember that we're there to have fun and don't go all Hope Solo on us. Any relelvant playing experience you want to include is a bonus, but don't give us any of that "I played backup keeper for Nantes" bullcrap, cause we're having Schneidermann check out all of your applications. We'll probably work out some type of special t-shirt/uniform for you too, so, you've got that to look forward to. It may or may not set you back $ 20, but, again, maybe we'll get a sponsor.
