I suspect not. He seems an intelligent lad (not typical of footballers but I think it must help), dedicated and with his head screwed on. Still forget him for now and check him out in five years or so.

I remember 5 or 6 or so years ago a few videos doing the rounds of very young "boy wonders" anyone know who they were and what they are up to now?

Algeria had 16 French-born players in their squad at the World Cup last year.

France developed their whole squad. Look around any African squad and a majority have some French players .

France have had a long history with African and Arab decent/direct players.

So the FA are starting to add articles about Grealish on the official website. Hopefully Joe helps to influence his decision about playing for the Three Lions. We will see.

Sorry to mention this again but it just touches a nerve with me. Anthony Scully was named Ireland's U16 player of the year! I'm amazed at this since he also played for England, I mean what sort of message does that send to their other players who are totally committed to them, it's the same principle for Grealish who got u21 player of the year despite taking most of the year off and playing twice! This just sends out the wrong messages imho!

Just shows how desperate they are also to keep hold of these players!

So he says he's brilliant and can ghost past players but then says he will be a star for Ireland and be a squad player for England! Really, how does he know that? If Grealish progresses as he has shown the talent then there's absolutely a great chance he could become a star player for England in the future. I find it funny that the Irish all of a sudden see us as a great team with tons of talent available that Grealish would not make our team but yet McGrath is saying how brilliant a player he is.

If the grandparent rule ever got shutdown they would be finished..
Its hard for them to find players with parentage ,but the grandparent rule can really be manipulated .

He was quality for Villa yesterday. Really hope we don't lose him to Ireland. He could be world class.

Exactly and that what makes McGraths statement about only being a squad player for us a stupid comment imo and one I hope Grealish is wise enough or being advised accordingly to ignore it.

From one of about a hundred and forty "exclusive" interviews with Jordon Ibe today:

I didn't even realise that he was considering Nigeria, to be honest.

Makes no sense as to why he would join Nigeria. He'll make it into England squads I believe.

Nigeria will just rush him into their senior team and put a lot of pressure on him to suceed. Look at Victor Moses.

His agent probably told him to talk like this, to encourage a quick England call up.

    LOL
If he plays for Nigeria he would have to travel around for all the African qualifier games. Involves long haul travel to play in bad conditions . Poor career move if he did that.

Reminds me of Diego Poyet who switched to Uruguay youth setup. I hope he likes the brutal travel schedule .

I would be extremely shocked if he did switch. English born lad at a top club who knows he has a very viable path to the England side.

I think the only way he will play for Nigeria is if he cant break into the England team.

He could easily make a rash move like Phillips shock switch to Scotland..

The difference with Phillips was that he probably already realised that it was going to be really tough to get into the England senior squad and when Wee Gordan approached him with the offer of a free Kilt, unlimited supply of Haggis and a barrel of Whiskey, who can refuse that. :p

He was never going to make it with England. I remember seeing him sky almost every shot at goal he had at the under-20 world cup.

Interesting that it seems like more of our lads are now playing in youth teams abroad. I wouldn't be surprised if the FA just don't know much about him.
