You know what I mean. A player who lived off a reputation he made for himself for the first 4 years of his career. Spent the rest of his career trying to claw back to that level but became a huge flop.

To be fair, I’m one of the last people who will defend Rooney and I understand what you mean when you say he couldn’t keep up with his early years in regard to that explosive pace he used to have that scared the living daylights out of defenders. However, to say he became a huge flop is a wide of the mark in fairness.

Rooney did burn out but had a really good career

he only had one good tournament for England in 04 which tarnishes his legacy a bit for me, but his first 4/5 years at Utd were amazing

He's England and Manchester United's record goalscorer.

When Rooney first came onto the scene, he was incredible. Pace, vision technique. I think weight problems affected his career. Still a great player but I think he could have been up there with Maradona, gazza, best, etc if he fulfilled his potential

If only he'd looked after his body like Gazza, Maradona, and George Best.

Rooney had a far, far better career than the overrated Gazza

I don't think Gazza was overrated in terms of talent, but if you're trying to make a point about Rooney declining early, maybe Gazza and Best aren't unassailable counterpoints.

Two starts for Suliman and two clean sheets, and I believe he was awarded Man of match in there 1-0 victory last time out. (he was definetly the highest rated palyer)

Appears that Josh Ireland (2004) is joining Anderlecht after leaving Stoke.

Both Edwards and Suliman are starting for Guimaraes against Benfica which kicks off any minute.

FYI Edwards looked a level above the rest of his teammates yesterday, and was up against a physically dominant LB. It was a good battle. Have a lot of time for what Vitoria are doing with our players

Not a bad goal I suppose

Seems to be finally for filling his undoubted potential! Will be interesting to see what teams come in for him as on this form, there must be many I’m sure.

Yeah, the same Marcus Edwards, seems to be growing in stature now. He’s had this insane ability from a young age but not really happened for him until now but this season he seems to have come into his own.

This. It's hard one, stability is key but you think he'd be wasting another year staying there.

If he moved, I hope it'd be to Spain or Germany. Coming back to the PL won't work for him.

A good club in Germany or Spain make the best sense. I don't know how similar Portuguese is to Spanish but if it is, Spain might be the easier place for him to adapt to.

If performs well there for a 2 or 3 years leaves him in a good position to join a top club by the time he comes to his peak

  20. Good for him. As I then posted in here I liked him as a player.

I thought he was quite highly rated but obviously not if he’s moving to Cyprus with all due respect.

Perfect. Some people have expressed concerns about whether he'll play many games initially, but there's a happy medium for a player who's still growing physically and, if anything, I think he's played slightly more than was ideal this season. A little bit of a step back - at a club that won't hesitate to throw him in when he's ready - might be a good thing.

They've been using Brandt as a makeshift CM for most of the season so there's no reason why he won't get games.
