We’re drawing again with Andorra. Very soft penalty. I am sick to death of these three at the back formations. Completely pointless having three CB’s against teams who barely leave their half of the pitch. It doesn’t even make us more defensively sound. Also leaves us with less bodies in the final third.
It’s madness but I’m gonna presume that Boothroyd is under instructions to follow the seniors! It’s very frustrating knowing the formations and tactics our English coaches and managers select are butchering our teams! No wonder there’s little faith in English managers.
I doubt they would give him that instruction. Long term planning with this system seems incomprehensible because it’s been awful at both levels.
Don't think that follows. Southgate clearly believes in the system. He's not going to say "I've adopted this new system and I'm sticking with it but it's patently dogshit so I wouldn't bother", is he?

Not really the point of what I was saying. I'm not standing up for the system, which I have doubts about myself. I'm saying that our doubts about the system are unlikely to inform Boothroyd's choices when Southgate's invested in it.
What I meant was that I doubt anyone above Aidy would be requesting that this system should be played at development levels. Especially with Aidy implementing it.
