Oxford is extremely well known in Jamaica and has been for years. His family in Jamaica is basically local football royalty. Just about every Jamaican male between the ages of 35 and 70 knows Neville Oxford's name and talks about him like a god. He didn't do much at the professional level - this worship is based on his career in Jamaican secondary school football, as well as a couple dozen senior caps (which was a lot to earn by the standards of his time). Secondary school football is the biggest sport on the island after track and field and most Jamaicans are fanatical about their secondary school teams. Neville Oxford had one of the best secondary school football careers in Jamaican history.

All of that is to say that Reece Oxford has been approached by Jamaica multiple times. He's shown some interest recently but fallen well short of commitment. My view is that he wont commit to Jamaica before 2025, if he is not already an England international by then and presuming Jamaica can offer him a seat on the plane to WC 2026.

Probally. Not that he is a Southgate favourite as he part of the 1995/1996 born group he doesn’t seem to like with Grealish and Maddison.

Herdman is a coaching genius! I talk about him here https://www.buzzsprout.com/1966892/10400664

Roberto Martinez is not, and he is having nightmares about the draw. Canada coming at him with no fear and blistering pace. Morocco will be desperate to get a result and if they get Ziyech back they can get it and then Belgium will need to get a result against Croatia, masters of the midfield. That Group F will come to goal differential and the Belgians will be fortunate to make it out.

Can’t say I’ve watched Rangers all that much but on this first half, no way is Tavernier better than any of our current right back options. I know some have said he could be worth a call up but I’m not seeing it so far if I’m honest.

He's definitely not better than Trent, James, Walker or Trippier but if we get beyond that then he's in contention at this point in time.

Yeah maybe, think I would have Walker-Peters ahead of him and Livramento pre injury. He just looks too slow for me but that could be due to the heat to be fair.

Calvin Bassey seems like a player with a very high upside, I thought he was in contention for a U21 call up a few years back (but spl players don’t get picked) shame he made the switch over to Nigeria, he’d be ideal as a left CB in a 3.

Felt for Rangers there, actually wanted them to win and thought they had done it when the ball fell to Kent but great save by Trapp to be fair. However as soon as it goes to penalties I knew Frankfurt would win, just fancied Trapp to save more than McGregor.

Just on a side note though, there was something satisfying seeing Ramseys miss the penalty and not looking so smug.

I see Germany have chosen a strong squad for the nations league including the match against England.

France also selecting a strong squad.

When is the squad announced. After all except for those at Liverpool all our players will be on holiday from Sunday.

There is an article in the daily Mail that gives the impression by how it urges him to look again that makes me think the author is aware that Southgate doesn’t like Maddison for some off pitch reason.

It is becoming that something has really put Southgate off him. I don’t think it’s the casino business I think it’s something that hasn’t been publicly reported.

Stop randomly speculating there are literally no rumours about anything he has or is doing off the pitch, especially since he became a dad

Anyway if he does take Maddison next month who will he drop to fit him? Smith Rowe and Grealish are the weakest in terms of performances recently.

If James can remain fit and Trent can finally bring his a-game there are two young and very talented players were one will have to play out of position to be able to start them together.

Could Calvert - Lewin get recalled?

I think Mount needs a big match for England before the World Cup if he wants to be sure of starting in Qatar.

Not sure how he can just totally ignore him especially if he’s in much better form than someone like Smith-Rowe who shouldn’t be in the next squad imo. Maddison’s goal tonight fwiw was a cracker….

The FA seem to adore Smith - Rowe. He gets more attention on the England social media accounts than many of the regulars.

Well, they can always play him in the U21’s if they want to keep him involved. I’m so fed up with this notion that we have to keep picking players because they are ‘ Good Lads ‘ etc. Its almost like we forget they are there to play football, not be cheer leaders for the FA.
