I think the issue people had was Mount playing as one of the front 3 in front of the back 7. When we have so many good forward players it's a waste to have him there when he can play in the middle..

I absolutely agree he should be a nailed on starter in midfield, not in the front 3.

It would make a lot of sense .. never seen him have a bad game ... always 7 or 8 out 10 ... plus he links up marvellously with Jack Grealish of course. !

On this forum you’re right but a lot of the Twitter hate directed at Mount was just straight up hating on him because casual England fans always need a player to hate.

Most of the hate for Mount was because people couldn't see what he brings to the table. His off the ball work and understanding of his role and team instructions are second to none, which is increasingly important in modern football. Add to that his attitude, work ethic and that he can play so many games in a season at full pace and you have a player that managers will always love. A lot of 'twitter fans' spend their time salivating over Cruyff turns and no look passes.

Mount can become an exceptional player.

It's funny how when Southgate and Lampard were playing him in every game everyone thought he was crap but now he's got the stamp of approval from a hyped German manager he becomes legit.

It’s been a kinda strange period really ... for a while Jack Grealish was way ahead of all the other English midfielders ... week after week getting MoM awards , outstanding in those England games - even to the extent of being a front runner in the Player of Season .The other midfielders were in his shadow for a time

Move forward a little and Grealish wasn’t quite as dominant ... due to the hamstring he’s been carrying for some time but Maddison came back from injury and started getting all the headlines until he got injured again

Next up was Foden who had a few real good games and scored some great goals and now we have Mason Mount who had gone quiet for a while but now he’s playing fabulously well !!

    We are blessed !!

He looked impressive last night from what I saw of the game

I’d take all four of them to be honest.

If anyone was to miss out it would be Mount for me but would be great if we could get all of them in the squad.

I think it would be very difficult to justify taking Maddison over Mount.

Maddison is more talented but its mounts ability off the ball that puts him ahead

Maddison is a 10 that can play 8, Mount is an 8 that can play 10

Not even sure Maddison is more talented to be honest.

Both great players and fitness permitting should be in the March squad but if it’s either/or then Mount.

no, there is no injury per say but the tendon in the hip he had operated on is inflamed, its just a case of waiting for it to settle down, probably a couple of weeks

Robertson would start for pretty much any club/country in the world.

Maddison and mount are completely different players

Maddison u fortunately is competing vs Graelish and foden

mount can play as an 8 a 6 and an attacking mid if needed

I admit I was wrong about him, he seemed more limited at derby but has come on a lot

A lot of casual fans only see him on MOTD but most people on here are proper fans. Do you not remember his England youth performances?

I think Mount is one of the most underrated players around. Always made a bit of a laughing joke about him being Southgates son and then Lampards son but now that Tuchel seems to rate him very highly that seems to have stopped somewhat even though you still get people that won’t changed their opinion because they are just so stubborn and won’t back down.

I just hope that Southgate is brave enough to select then play these talented players . I’d love to see Mount , Foden and Grealish playing together ahead of either Phillips/Henderson or maybe Rice .

Foden on the bench Again. Think he should leave city. He's never gonna develop only getting 13 starts in a season.

Hahaha... you guys are a trip. Man City have loads of games, so he’s being given a well earned rest.

Would you rather he play every game and be knackered?
