Doesn’t have many backers at United based on what? Whenever he’s played he’s done well and no Man Utd fans have expressed dissatisfaction with him. He’s a quality player and you’re talking like he’s a liability. If you’re talking about Mount’s England chances Southgate is never going to play Maddison as one of the midfield three so Mount isn’t in competition with him.
I mean in terms of Maddison moved to Spurs and has impressed and had a big impact. Obviously Man United are in bad form and he has been injured but he has still struggled.
He hasn’t struggled. He hasn’t set the world alight but he’s been decent in a team where nearly everyone has been poor.
Man Utd at the least are going to need almost a whole new defence, a DM and some wide attacking options. Last thing they should be worrying about is Mount. I still can’t believe that last goal they conceded. Especially at that point in the game. Positioning of Amrabat is a disgrace. Onana is also playing like Joe Hart at Euro 2016. Feels like every shot on target is going to go in.
Something is seriously wrong at that club. It may turn out that Sancho has played a blinder, when he has a holiday from now until January, when he goes out on loan back to Dortmund on full pay.
I know they wouldn't but they need to re-sign De gea. He got the golden glove last year. This sweeper keeper bullshit has warps peoples minds to what makes a good goal keeper.
Good idea. They could have two number 1’s lol. In all seriousness they don’t have a choice but to back Onana now.
De Zerbi is the hottest ticket in town right now. Whether he could untangle the mess that is Man United though is another matter.
They'll back him all the way to the Championship if they carry on. P.S I wonder how much they'd be worth if they ended up in the Championship?
Arteta has stated that Saka’s injury doesn’t look good. Obviously gutted for Saka and hope he gets better soon. Must admit though I’m happy to see Arteta get his comeuppance for his ludicrously irresponsible management of Saka’s workload.
I pray I am wrong but it sounds like his Achilles might have got a bit worse. That could be a long term injury. But if he is called up Thursday and then withdraws we all know he wont then be replaced.
SkySports seem to think Saka’s issue is not a bad one. No certainty at this point though. 🚨 Update from Sky Sports reporter @gary_cotterill, in attendance at the Arsenal match: “The feeling around here, and not at all official, is that Saka may not be too bad. Perhaps a muscle strain or maybe a precaution.” [Sky] #afc pic.twitter.com/TsSjxVQlK2— afcstuff (@afcstuff) October 3, 2023
Who knows. Southgate should announce he is resting him as he is concerned about his underlying problems.
If this is true and his injury is not significant Arteta should take this as a warning sign and start to manage his minutes and give him a rest here and there for a while before the season starts getting more serious after Christmas. Guarantee he won't though and Saka will end up with a much more serious injury down the line.

Mount has actually been pretty good since he's come back from his injury. Mount's downfall has been one of Fireburn's many obsessions on here. It's been pointed out earlier in this thread that every manager Mount has played under has loved him. As you say United attacked pretty well last night and Mount was a part of that, the issue was in defence. Onana has been terrible so far while Lindelof and Varane were appalling last night. There are big injury issues though which is contributing. Amrabat should never be playing at left back. It's probably best for Maguire to be sitting these games out as you know he'd be blamed for it all by making Onana and the defence nervous or something if he was playing. As an England fan you just don't want English players to sign for United anymore, even if you do support them like me. The club being so globally popular has made it incredibly toxic since the decline in performances since Sir Alex retired coupled with the rise of social media and the army of deplorable fans that attack the players online it brings. You also have Youtubers like Goldbridge that capitalise most in times of misery and the press love negative stories about United because it gets clicks. I saw Branthwaite linked with United yesterday and I can't think of a worse move for his career at this point.
