Which means in the event of an emergency to Walker he would have to decide between Trent covering or Colwill covering and Trippier moving over, As a well planned manager I would imagine he would make that decision beforehand.
That assist from Levi Colwill was outrageous! 🎯What a moment for Mudryk who gets his first Chelsea goal. 💙pic.twitter.com/pTq5W1btCI— London Is Blue Podcast ⭐️⭐️ (@LondonBluePod) October 2, 2023 That's one heck of a pass from Levi Colwill. Like John Stones, it's a special centre back who can play out of position and still influence games.
I still have concerns about him in this position against a technically better side with better runners in behind him but this is the first time I've been genuinely impressed with him as a left-back and he's been very good.
I wouldn't judge anyone whos playing out of position for about 10 games. Unless they've been shockingly bad which he hasn't.
Would be somewhat of a suprise. He hasn’t really showed a massive amount he was left out, Also who to be dropped to fit him in him? And would feel harsh perhaps on the likes of Gordon and Bowen who have been better as whole this season if he comes back based more on prior performances.

‘BBC chief football writer Phil McNulty has been taking questions from supporters Michael asked: Would you consider Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn for the next England squad? Both playing exceptionally well at the moment (and actually playing!). Looking forward to big Dan Burn v Kylian Mbappe. McNulty answered: Hi Michael. I’ll be at St James’ Park on Wednesday and I'm looking forward to everything about that one – not just Burn v Mbappe, if that’s how it pans out. I totally agree, Longstaff and Burn are both playing well. I happen to think Longstaff is particularly underrated, but I think they would both struggle to get in - in my opinion, of course - because England are pretty well blessed in both of their areas. If injuries occur then that could change as they are both doing really well, as are Newcastle United after a shaky spell. If Dan shuts out Kylian on Wednesday then who knows though! ‘
What is it and England with full backs ending with double L !! Chilwell, Cresswell , Colwill and Mitchell
Colwill was very impressive last night, needs to play in the friendly against Australia to see what he can do in an England shirt. His progressive passing is exceptional and seems his defending ain’t bad either. Maguire’s time must be up now. Surely he won’t be in the squad on Thursday with several better options out there.
I wonder if Southgate would ever drop maguire for a player like collwill, stones and colwill would be a technically excellent pairing
Zero chance he drops Maguire. He feels he has been unfairly targeted, Unless Stones make a last minute return Maguire will start against Italy alongside Guehi.
Cracking little player, but he did like a dive. Fair play to him for taking on Norman Hunter. Andrea Leadsom getting skewered is a wonderful thing to watch pic.twitter.com/PXHxa9ZpzW— Simon Gosden. Esq. #fbpe 3.5% 🇪🇺🐟🇬🇧🏴☠️🦠💙 (@g_gosden) October 3, 2023
Appalling journalism given Burn plays on the opposite side of the pitch to Mbappe and will most likely not be marking him.
Then he should be rightly grilled until he sees sense. We cannot go into the Euros with Maguire first choice when he isn't playing football at his club (and the reason he isn't playing football at his club is he isn't good enough). We shouldn't be rolling out the red carpet for players like Maguire.
He will just say the media are targeting Maguire because he has been made into a scapegoat for Man United trouble. Southgate trusts relatively few players.
This is why Southgate is so infuriating. He would have given Maguire his chance when he had zero caps, surely he can do the same for someone else and remove Maguire from the squad. It's doing more harm than good keeping him as first choice, for England and for Maguire.
🚨 🚨 Crystal Palace and England set to be dealt huge blow amid concerns Eberechi Eze will miss six weeks through a hamstring injury. Story on @MailSport— Sami Mokbel (@SamiMokbel81_DM) October 3, 2023 🚨🔴🔵 | Eberechi Eze has been ruled out for six weeks with hamstring injury. He will miss England’s upcoming games with Australia and Italy. #CPFC(@SamiMokbel81_DM // @MailSport) pic.twitter.com/bUlkkxmsVb— Everything England 🏴 (@TheEngllshGame) October 3, 2023 Sad news. Eze ruled out for 6 weeks with hamstring injury? Who will take his spot? Ward - Prowse? Longstaff? Ramsey? Mount?
In Southgate's system Eze is a winger, so it will be not JWP nor Longstaff. I would think Bowen has a chance.
True but Southgate doesn’t always replace like for like if he feels someone in a different position is more worthy.
