Sup Guys, Obviously i am a Mexico supporter, but my best friend since i was 8 is Chilean, I would always go over his house to watch Chilean international matches and Colo-Colo matches. A couple years ago i started dating his cousin, so i have been in a serious relationship with her for a while now. So the combonation of My best friend being Chilean, my GF being Chilean, and my love for Football has kinda caused me to adapt Chile as my ''Segunda Patria". I will be rootin for you guys during your WCQ's. I know Chile has some great talent but of course since it isnt my first country i have some questions about your team. Hopefully for me someone takes the time to answer my questions. Thanks in advance guys. 1. What's up with Matias? Whats his current status with his Club? I thought he was a lock to shine in the LFP after his amazing 06 Copa Sudamericana campaign. Is there still hope for him to shine? 2. Has Alexis Sanchez had any offers to a big club in Europe? That kid is amazing. 3. Where would you rank Chile in South-America? I would put them 4th Under Brasil/Argentina/Paraguay...then Chile. 4. My Girlfriend told me of the Heated Chilean-Peruvian Rivalry, not just in Football but in general life...can someone explain this me more? Is it as heated as she says? Do they really hate eachother?(players and fans) Again, Thanks in advance guys. ill do my best to watch all of Chile's WCQ games. Chile will qualify for the world cup, believe it.
Hope this helps! Metro
1. Before he left for Villarreal he'd been playing nonstop for a year or so. He didn't seem fit enough to sustain that rhythm... he would try to pull off certain moves that wouldn't work mostly because his speed had decreased dramatically. His performance dropped and it seems he had a brief emotional breakdown. During Copa Copa he was distant from the group and didn't seem very happy. Pellegrini was wise enough to give him some off time before starting preseason at Villarreal and it seems to be paying off: while he hasn't scored (it's clear that he's not confident enough try to score just yet) he's been assiting for goals and overall having an excellent beginning of season for Villarreal. In his last couple of games for la Roja it's been unanimously agreep upon by everyone who has followed him that he's gradually regaining last year's level. 2. Like Metro said, Udinese bought own his pass. They bought him when he used to play for Cobreloa, a good time before he was even rumoured to play in Colo Colo. 3. I'd honestly say that at this current point in time there's no clear "3rd place" in South America. Besides Brazil and Argentina it gets really murky. Paraguay has been getting very disappointing results lately, same thing for Ecuador. Colombia, Uruguay and Chile are either restructuring or playing very inconsistently. As far as talent goes, I'd put us right below Uruguay and on par with Colombia... but good talent doesn't always translate into a good team. 4. It all started with the Confederacy War... and then worsened with the War of the Pacific. The futbol rivalry it's just an extrapolation of an old conflict that still has political implications today. So really, any competition between both nations becomes part of the historical rivalry. Hope that helps!
Is Salas expected to play? I see many of you guys don't have him in your starting 11 but I also notice that Bielsa wants him to play a pretty big role on the squad. Now I grew up watching Salas, my favorite Chilean baller of all-time, but my question is, can he still play at this level for NT? I mean if Basile trusts Riquelme who hasnt played at all for Villareal you might think that Salas really does have a chance to start if he's 'healthy' for Chile. Being 'in form' is all relative, right? I also think that Chile (like Colombia) lacks leadership - someone that can take a hold of a situation, put aside their ego, and 'work the field' + 'work the players'. but is it worth the risk?
Metro
I think he's more of a father figure than anything else...I'm not so sure we will see him scoring many goals.

I wouldn't blame Schweinsteiger, he was taking a shot on goal and Vidal blocks it with his right knee taking most of the impact.
