No lie, I'm waitin at newark.....
Damn, Yesterday was a bad day. This next qualifier is going to be something else.
It wasnt there best game last night, The main Issue was no real work done on the flanks, all Guerron was doing was passing the ball back :\, and Arroyo well, he couldnt exactly get past the point of defenders. The game has a really really bad ref, every lil nudge was a foul, and really strong fouls were given the minimul charge (ie: Bad elbow to Rojas face by a Colombian Player). The defense really screwed up the last minute letting that goal in. Banguera did a fine job from what i saw and even blocking that penalty which i thought personally he wasnt gonna b able to. But uyeah the two Centrebacks just let Falcao net that balloon in and well...there went the match -_-
I'm telling you - Rueda is not convincing me at all yet.
Tactically, I noticed some strange things. Benitez was playing up top, and Ayovi was dropping back to support the midfield and on the wings. Huh?? Ayovi should stay in the center of the field and look for balls in the box, whereas Benitez should be the one dropping back to link up with the midfield. Has Rueda seen these guys play other than during the practice sessions??
Also, Noboa and Quiroz were also out of place for most of the game. Noboa was playing MUCH higher up than he usually plays. Quiroz should be the one organizing the midfield instead. When he was doing that, especially in the beginning of the 2nd half we looked much better and started creating opportunities. Again, I'm hoping this guy is watching our players.
Then...the subs??? Saritama for Benitez??? WTF was he thinking there? Two players with completely different characteristics! Was that supposed to be an offensive substitutionn?? All that happened when Saritama came in was that the midfield got clogged up and nobody knew who to pass to, so they just kept passing it around to each other.
Then...Suarez for Arroyo?? I haven't seen Suarez play, but I know he's not a winger. So that means that for the final minutes we were playing with 3 central midfielders and no left wing.
I was confused, I don't know if the players were. But they must have been confused because they left the best Colombian player #10 Moreno completely unmarked on the play that led to the goal.
On the other hand, Bolillo's subs worked - Darwin Quintero was fast and dangerous, and Falcao came in and scored. Looks like Bolillo outclassed his compatriot.
I agree that we need to be patient, and I will...up to a certain point. The team that showed up yesterday was the same team that played Venezuela, mediocre. Mediocre is not gonna get us anywhere fellas. This was Rueda's third friendly, and I like most Ecuadorean will buy that "Its a process, we're trying out new players crap." But if we dont start seeing progress on the field than all that talk Rueda talks is nothing but complete bull. If the bad results keep on coming Rueda wont last past the Copa America.
Another thing...Ecuador again showed their greatest flaws: Lack of balls and inteligence. Again we lost a game in the final 5 mins. On the play that led to the goal, Suarez got injured. Noboa raised his hand signaling to his team to stand still and halt play. We continued with the play and Colombia scored. Teams do not win games just on sheer talent, they win with "vivesa" as well.
i agree. but seeing how rueda reads the game he'd probably have castillo/pedro quinonez attacking and noboa as the 5. certain players don't have the characteristics to play in other players positions. he's mixing sh*t up. This is one thing Vizuete never did. If Vizuete would have shown signs that he was interested in reconstructing the team instead of playing with Ivan Hurtado and Giovanni Espinoza all the time, then he would have had my vote over Rueda. Rueda's lost. he's experimenting the wrong way.
I went to see the game and I thought that Ecuador failed to its expectations. Guerrón looked like an amateur on the field. He was lost. Noboa, Quiroz were solid on the midfield. The offense lacked a connection with the midfield. J Ayoví and C Benitez did whatever they could but it was not enough. Up to the time of the goal, the defense, was accurate. As for Banguera, he surprised a lot of people. He defended the goal without any pressure. He blocked a penalty shot. He even blocked the shot before the goal of Falcao by Colombia.
I am over football in my half country Ecuador I'll go support Argentina like always... thats it im fed up with all the b.s. dont blame the coach for this. He put his best men available on the field except for Edison Mendez. either way Noboa and Quiroz played a bad ass game and arroyo did good as well, the only player who didn't do sh** the whole time was Guerron. the defense was a wall until Jorge Guagua fell asleep in a through ball that quintero payed in. Isaac Mina truly showed that he is a class defender. Reasco and AYovi did well but Ayovi surpassed him. Im sick of this stupid phrase Ecuador dominated and created countless chances like never before but lost like always. the worse thing is that it is true they always dominate opposing teams and never take their chances then they loose their concentration in the last minutes of the game. I have no excusses to what happened against colombia even Banguera played a bad ass game and so what if guerron didn't do anything, rojas didn't do crap either when he replaced him on the right. Anyway Idk what to say I guess there is just not enough intelligence, dedication, and conviction within the team.
It is not J Rojas fault if he did not perform. He should have started from the start instead of Guerrón. Guerrón is not a starter for his team. He is not consistent anymore. Rojas is consistent for Emelec. He is key. Other players should be given a chance to play instead of C Benitez. M de Jesus, M J Quiñonez, among others should be in the team. C Benitez misses too many shots during the game. He is known for that. He cost Ecuador many goals during the last world cup qualifier. The defense looked fair up to the goal. That has to be adjusted by R Rueda. The midfield is a problem right now. Hopefully, for the next games there will be positive changes for the team. Banguera as for now is doing well at goal. A Bone is a good substitute for him.
first of all, if your fed up with ecuador and want to discredit the NT then don't even call yourself a Liga fan or associate yourself with liga.
if your gonna say that it wasn't the coaches fault, then you obviously don't understand that there were players playing in positions that they are not naturally comfortable with. In the end, the players get the blame but if the coach doesn't understand their strengths and weaknesses, then THE COACH is the root of the problem. Benitez is a supporting striker, not the center forward. Jaime Ayovi was working as a supporting striker...tell me what characteristics he has in his game that make him dependable in that position? None. Like I said earlier, this is an example of Rueda experimenting the wrong way. This tells me that in future games I'll be seeing Marlon De Jesus as a supporting striker and Montero as a defensive mid by the way Rueda reads the game. It's stuff like this that confuses players.
Wow you Ecuas need to chillax they are only friendlies when we win I don't get to high and when we loose I don't get so low. I find it funny that just a month ago we were commenting the strength of our midfield. And now we are complaining we don't have enough good midfielders. Rueda should try different players what I don't like is his insistence in putting Walter Ayovi on defense instead of attacking mid on the left side. The defensive mid is always going to be Naboa and Castillo it's good that quiroz is being given a chance but I'm sorry he is not a starter. Same with Guerron good of the bench but should not start these two are there in case A. Valencia and Castillo are hurt. My worry is on the back line we have to have a strong tall and fast back line most important YOUNG! Bring the kid from Emelec and the tall kid from Barcelona give them minutes together get them some playing time together don't call them up and not play them!
That is true. However I don't think we have replacements for Mendez and Valencia. Without them we lose a lot of quality.
What Ecuador needs is a better defense, letting crappy goals like the one Falcao scored and like the one against Venezuela can cost us alot. Midfield is solid with Noboa and Quiroz and once Toñito comes back it should get better and on the left flank i would use Jefferson Montero he's really fast and can use either leg real good, Arroyo is good too but he needs time to develop more and what to say about Guerron?? He was a beast when he was in LDU but maybe time off from the team didnt do him so good, this was his first game back since April 2009 i believe and with strikers i have faith in Chucho and Ayovi cause they speed and at some point even give Rojas a start. Another player to watch is Felipe Caicedo, in the qualifiers he was so so but he's doing real good right now in Spain and he's young too. Goalkeepers are solid id say Marcelo Elizaga has another 2 good yrs in him but from what i seen i see Banguera as the next starter. Ecuador has alot of talent they just need to put it to great use.
any one has stats for the game?
corners - offsides, shots, saves and assitance (taquilla) in Bulls arena?
lol iv'e supported LDU way before they had any major international achievement and I was born in Buenos Aires, Ive supported the team since back in the 90's when Ecuador preety much sucked. In fact I could honestly say I love Ldu more than Boca. LDU is more than than the Ecuador National team to me.(note I am not against the Ecuadorian national team, my dad is Ecuadorian and I love ecuadorian soccer so don't talk shit please)
Actually on that game every player played in their original positions, Reasco RB, Ayovi LB, Guagua CB, and Mina who could play both Left and center back, in fact he did so well that I would love to see him start as center back again. the mf were all on thir natural positions, your are right on the benitez/ ayovi thing but either way It is unfair to blame the coach for this loss, our team played way much better than Colombia we created many good chances to score and dominated them most of the time but no one in the team seems to have the balls or technique to shoot a ball correctly past the gk. I am aware that we have much more quality than colombia and Venezuela and yet we lost against them. On the other hand if we are talking about the game against Poland then we can Blame Rueda becuase he insists in putting Juan Paredes as a right back where it is clear that he sucks.
THANKS, for making all that clear now.
I already wrote about what I saw in this game. There were some players that played solid but as to Guerrón he did not. He was not there. I do not see him to be or to get anywhere near Valencia. Players that could play better than him and show diversity are M Arroyo, Saritama, J Rojas, M de Jesus, among others. These are players that could play at the National level and show more than J Guerrón. He is not a star. He has not proven anything in the past two years since he left LDU Q. Why should J Guerrón be given an opportunity when there are other players that are playing on a weekly basis and are doing well in their teams? If Profesor wants to still give him a chance, he will be making a big mistake because J Guerrón is not at his best playing in Brazil. Other players could be more effective right now not him.
what are you talking about Guerron has been starting and playing 90 mins in his team the past month or so. in assuming your not listening to the news lately
