Castillo was substituted for Urutia. My guess is Vizuete wants to save him for the next game since Castillo has a yellow. I don't think it's because Castillo was taking too many long range shots at goal and hitting the cross bar...

Bolanos in for Ambrossi... and let's see if Urutia can bring his magic...

As long as the ref isn't Ecuadorian or Chilean his nationality should not matter. Don't read into it. If that were the case, all the refs should be Paraguayans or Peruvians (top and bottom of the table).

Chile definetly playing for the point. All their players are in full defensive mode!! 9 men behind the ball on their half! It will be tough for Ecuador to find space.

Gol from Benitez and the ref hands out another harsh red card, this time on Valencia - a key piece in Ecuador's machine.

    ECUADOR !!!!!!!!!!!!

the Chilean NT belongs on a football field... preferably Giants Stadium .. cus with those fouls they committed with every passing second they'd be perfect.

I have to give it up for the Chile's keeper... the dude saved his team from a couple of clear goals.

Wasn't a pretty game but at least we won the game. Freaking pissed about that red card on valencia that shouldn't of been a red card that F-ing ref sucked huevos.

you clearly cannot take a light comedic comment with a grain of salt... I actually counted how many fouls they committed within one minute... so I actually have a basis for my conclusion... now that I chose a witty way to put it out here is not my problem... dude.. take it easy. The game was very hard fought...

I think we can all agree, we don't want to ever see that ref again.

Metro, I think the Chilean players, really worked hard out there and just got a little bit unfortunate. That first red card seemed to take the wind out of your sails, otherwise I think we could have seen some nice counters from the Chileans.

Good luck on your next match with Argentina.

we controlled the ball 80% of the time today.
chile's goal keeper saved them from being bombarded...

the referee was card happy today...
he compensated the red given to chile by
    giving one to Valencia...
Too bad we didn't score more goals. It would have easily been a 3 - 0 win...But I'm happy with the win...

Next up is Venezuela in Venezuela...
Cevallos, Kinito Mendez and Mina are back for us.

Thanks, you show some class (as have all posters on this thread bar Mr. Guayaquileno). If you guys check my posts, I've always congratulated the winning team whenever Chile has lost. This time it would be no different, specially considering how much we got played off the park today. :(

    Cheers!

really though.. you should stop bit*ching... you want me to say srry or something???!... you don't have to go lollygagging and pointing me out man. I gave it up to Chile's goalkeeper and said the game was very hard fought over both... dude.. what I said was not because I'm a bad winner... dude you could have said I was a "bad loser" if ecuador would have lost and I made the same remark, the problem is the comment didn't sit well with you! ... so there you go man.... it was a bit comedic my comment I admit.. but it was not in ill humor at all.. so just shake it off ok be a man. I never once insulted the team.

You guys played a tough match.... I let out a sigh when Suazo left the field... Chile ran out of steam in the latter part of the 2nd half .. and Ecuador missed a couple of clear chances... the ref was a maniac with the yellows. Good game.. you guys are still up so its not to worry much ... but Argentina is going to be a very tough cookie.

I am surprised Haedo-Valdez didn't score for Paraguay: he usually scores all the goals he doesn't score for us while he's on int. duty.:D

Sometimes I feel that not many people think with an objective mind when posting here.
After watching the game, my conclusions were that we need Mendez in the Mid. When Urrutia Came in, we improved so much since he has the same characteristics as Mendez.
Benitez need to learn to pass the freaking ball. He holds te ball for too long trying to do dribble everyone.
Caicedo is lost as a center forward.
Guerron can find his pace in the NT. He is also a ballhogger.
With players like these on the field at the same time, we are not going to go anywhere important.
We need to fix our attack soon, cause we are not scoring and I think it's mainly for this reasons
