Dude this team is amazing! I am seriously hoping they win the champions league and finish in Serie A in a top position!
If we ever start Falcao over Duvan when both are healthy we riot. Matter of fact Muriel and Duvan should be auto starters qualifiers were going on right now.
Muriel has yet to play 90 minutes in any of his Colombia matches. That’s my primary concern. In knockout games I wouldn’t mind seeing him first off the bench, especially if we go to penalties. Duvan should start and if Falcao could come off the bench. That’s what should have happened in CA19 against Chile, especially with the way CQ was rotating players in those first 3 group games
Well the replay showed as the defender was jumping and spinning, it hit his arm and he didn't have his hands behind his back.
I mean Muriel looked tired about five minutes after coming on the pitch. Chased the keeper a few times and seemed to exhaust himself then ... Feel for him on the pen, that didn't seem intentional to me.
Doesn’t matter if intentional of not, if you’re inside the box, you gotta mind your P’s and Q’s - especially when playing against Penaldo, Madrid or Barcelona
Obviously. But I didn't think either of the Atalanta pens could have been prevented by the players (the first dude was trying to jump out of the way).
You don't have to have your arms behind your back though, you just have to have them inside your body which he did. If the arm is extended you gain an advantage but if the defender is making a good effort to keep them inside then they're supposed to get the benefit.
I see we are talking about this in both threads. Yup, totally agree. He should have got the benefit of the doubt. Not intentional. He seemed to be really trying to avoid the ball.
I think I saw a similar penalty when Man U played PSG last year like the first penalty. The reasoning for the penalty was he turned his back and moved his arm forward. He should not have done that (turn his back to the ball) unless he had his hands behind his back and low. It is a harsh call but I can see why it was called.
Amazing! Click thru and watch video of 8 straight minutes of Atalanta keeping the ball away from Juve in their own half before Duvan's goal set to the William Tell Overture!
For those of us in the USA- Atalanta's match against Hellas Veriona will be on ESPN in English and ESPN Deportes in Spanish.
You can't put up the type of numbers they have offensively without taking risks. Live by the sword die by the sword.
It is all a part of the tactics and the spirit of going all out on attack with only a 3 man back line. And their defenders are also making bone headed mistakes one-on-one. That is the main reasoning why I do not think they can advance far in CL but as I said I hope I am wrong and they continue to surprise me.
It has improved but I don't think enough. We will see once the likes of Neymar, Di Maria, Mbappé are running around on the wings against them in August to get a better idea.
The valencia match is a good sample of how it will depend more about their offensive power.........they recieved a lot of goals in those matches...but scored more than valencia....
Atalanta look a lot more solid since coming back, PSG is one of the worst matchups for them because they are ridiculous not the counter, Neymar/Mbappe/Dimaria are a nightmare in that scenario. But PSG hasn't played for a long time and Atalanta are playing some of the best soccer in the world right now. It will be very interesting, but Atalanta compared to the other teams left are minnows on a tiny budget, but they have it in them to beat anyone but just getting this far is a huge accomplishment. I really hope Duvan stays, there is likely to be some big fish looking for his services but he has champions league football, he's not over worked and for his career I'm convinced there is no better place for him. Muriel I'd say the same, but I can understand why he'd want more consistent minutes.
