salzburg could probably use him. im not sure max wober was a very good buy and a different approach might be warranted for a very leaky defense.

Azcona just debuted for Miami & looked decent.

I don't normally partake in the dual national panic, but you have to pick your spots. A kid like Azcona is different. He has the ability to contribute to the US going fw & he's on the verge of getting cap-tied elsewhere. The next official comp match for DR is at the beginning of June. USS should be contacting Azcona to try and persuade him not to participate.

What they could offer him beyond a spot at the next u-20 WC I don't know. He might well balk at it and take the immediate senior opportunity for a lesser fb'ing nation. In the end he'd probably regret it, but that's what kids do. Might be a loss for all parties not named DR in the end.

Getting back to our sidebar about US-eligibles who have played for three different YNTs, Kaile Auvray apparently played for Guadeloupe at the 2019 CONCACAF U15 qualifiers (not a provisionally tying event). Since then he has played for both France U17 and US U17 in friendlies. So the players we know of so far are:

Kaile Auvray (including one non-FIFA member)
    Maki Tall
    Alex Zahavi
Brandon Zelaya (if he plays for El Salvador YNT this month)

Again, not players who have had invites/interest by three nations but those who have actually accepted invites to and represented three different national teams at youth level.

Zahavi's case may take the cake with his ostensibly shiny youth club career which certainly helped him garner that youth NT interest. Tall's career is interesting since he played for nations of three different continental federations.

This says that Jonathan did receive another Mex YNT invite in 2020 but turned it down for a US one. He accepted a call-up to the US U19s in March 2020. So his Mex U16 camp in 2019 was not the only invite he got from the FMF.

Brandon hasn't played for ES yet, but he went out and got a ES passport.

Their official national team account gave him a shout-out so it's probable he joins their YNTs. Probably a bigger loss for Mex than us.

Any know if it’s true that Jonathan Gomez got called up to train with the full Mexican national team? Seen it reported a few times in Spanish, but can’t seem to find a reliable source.

That seems like big enough news that if it was real it’d have been reported somewhere in English. The Mexican media is notorious for fake stories.

I think Gomez is good enough that we absolutely cannot afford to lose this recruiting battle. This is one that would do damage to our player pool. You cannot replace elite young LB prospects. They don’t grow on trees. However, I wouldn’t be too worried. He’s declined Mexican YNT camps recently, and his brother has only played for USYNT’s. While he’s played for Mexican YNT’s before, he’s done so for USYNT’s more often.

Sparring? Well...that's a new term for me when it comes to soccer.

The USMNT should do the same during cup cake camp.

Sparring is called a group of players (usually young) who are called to, usually, play against the MNT in training.
This does not count as a YNT or MNT call.
This is widely used by South American countries to identify players, but the rate of players who are then called to the MNT is relatively low.

I'm dissapointed by this. Arsenal is in shambles but didn't give him any minutes. Bundesliga would have been a great move to develop.
