Balogun sure seems like one we have a decent shot at now.

He might just be waiting to see if the USA qualifies for the Cup.

The MNT's attacking situation is certainly unsettled, but he's gotta know he wouldn't more than a reach for 2022, whether at Arsenal or anywhere else, based on his resume so far and the fact that it's late in the cycle. Still, a reach is better than he'd get for England. And if he finishes the English season strong, who knows?

2022 seems too soon, but he does seem like he’s the style of striker that Berhalter is very much a fan of.

Don’t underestimate his chemistry with Musah. They played in the academy together and I bet they are close. Musah will be in Berhalter’s ear if Balogun is playing well.

Musah and Balogun are still close, as is Alex Mighten.

Its also relatively obvious that Berhalter isn't satisfied with his forward situation with the USMNT. He keeps rotating guys looking for the answer, and none of them are stepping up (other than Pepi for a few games). He'll probably go back to Sargent, Pefok, etc. soon. Forward is one position where a previously uncapped "outsider" may be able to make a run at the squad over the summer.

My guess a year or so ago for likeliest recruits to have a possible impact for '22 would've been Pierie and Balogun. At this point I'm less sure. It's probably some mishmash of those two plus Munoz and Malik Tillman, but I still don't think any of them walk onto a final roster if everyone's available. Maybe I'm missing someone?

I know a Twitter account that might enjoy that one. So, I suspect, does @bshredder.

Going through my daily check of USYNT sources for USYNT news, I went to reddit first. Here's the @bshredder tweet you were referencing though.

I actually didn't see that he'd tweeted it! But that's what I get for not checking first.

Isn't Mexico U15 also playing the same tournament US U15 is playing? How many YNT of the same age does Mexico do? Seems like a lot!

Mexico sent their U16 team (2007) and the U15 team is for players born in 2008.

I watched a game of Dylan Saltos (‘03), the kid who plays in the Ecuador system. He’s not bad, but not good enough to play for us. Small secondary striker type. Not really dynamic. Not quick. More of a goal scorer than true playmaker. He’s two footed, I like his attacking instincts, and his technique is slightly above average. He did score two goals, including a golazo, but I try to not let stuff like that influence the assessment of the player too much.

Looking like Balogun to Reims is getting closer.
