There's no thread to discuss players like Okoh, Tillman, Alvarez, Balogun separately from looping them in with the players that are already playing for us or aren't playing for another country. I don't think they should be looped in with the ones in our system. Here's another player, and I'm going to use this news to create a new thread.
Isn't that exactly what this thread is for? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yanks-on-foreign-ynts-1997-and-later.2030961/ With that said, some of these threads that incorporate 97s and other Olympic-relevant years are getting old and long and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to start breaking up more of them, including that one.
I think that thread is for a lot of updates of when a player is called in YNT's. There's not a lot of actual discussion about these players that happens in that thread or any thread, which is why I thought there should be another thread, but thats only how I see it.
Fair enough. I know there is a subgroup here that is determined to avoid YA at all costs. As a longtime poster there, I think you're missing out/totally understand.
An update that would be relevant for this thread: '01 defender Ilan Sauter is moving to FC Wil in the Swiss second tier on loan from FC Zurich. Born in the US, raised in Switzerland, represents Switzerland U19. Former US U17 striker '02 Noah Jones is also moving there from RB Leipzig U19.
I'm all for letting the marketplace of threads do its thing but if we aren't 100% sure we need this, I'd certainly be up for splitting the Americans on Foreign YNTs thread into 97-00 and 00-04* versions, which will offer more space to this stuff without overcrowding a single thread. Perhaps we could do both. Anyway, I'll stop Fake Moderating now.
As I’ve been here long enough, I’ve slowly starting avoiding all the sections that aren’t this one. I have no problem with either idea, and I’m not going to fake moderate either. I felt like there’s a general lack of discussion on this group of players. I believe it’s because there wasn’t a proper place for it, but that’s only my own interpretation of why.
'02 US-born winger Alex Mighten scored for Nottingham Forest in preseason. One of three US-born players representing England YNTs along with Folarin Balogun and Yunus Musah. Mighten had eight Championship appearances last season as Forest finished 7th place. https://t.co/QyXVbzylOx— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) August 30, 2020
Attacking mid Andres Souper scored for CD Antofagasta. Born in New York and has been at one Chile U23 camp. https://t.co/ZDXUFLktXZ— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) September 7, 2020 1302855193114161152 is not a valid tweet id
Seems like Hamaleinen is gone............................... Started for Finland today in the Nations League https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/dykes-scores-first-scotland-goal/ https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...f-ireland-finland-nations-league-match-report
I figure Finland qualifying for its first-ever European Championship a couple months after his U.S. U23 camp made that a pretty easy decision if it wasn't one already. Of course, if he doesn't make that squad...
Arch Bell says the USSF has been monitoring '02 Rocco Rios of CA Lanus. Born in the US and started in goal for Argentina at last year's U17 World Cup. With Rios being a U17 World Cup player for Argentina it would require a switch, but he's certainly aware that USMNT are keeping tabs on him.— Arch Bell (@ArchBell) September 9, 2020
What's up with Philippe Sandler? Healthy? Staying at Man City? Going on loan? Where is he in the Dutch CB pecking order?
Pecking order? This is how our CD pool looks like: The three in front are VvDijk, de Ligt and de Vrij
Started in La Liga. Yunus Musah becomes the first Englishman EVER to play for @valenciacf_en. 🏴🦇⚽️ #ValenciaLevante📺 @LaLigaTV pic.twitter.com/SzeudPBGq5— LALIGA English (@LaLigaEN) September 13, 2020
'02 US-born Yunus Musah makes WhoScored's La Liga XI of the Week. Obviously a long-shot for the USMNT, even if a (deserved) senior invite is offered, because he has captained his England age group at youth level. https://t.co/f0MLm3LHG7— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) September 14, 2020 Arsenal reject Sheffield United's £3m bid for striker Folarin Balogun with the Blades left stunned as Gunners demand a £15m deal for the 19-year-old in the final year of his contract. Arsenal reject Sheffield United's £3m bid for striker Folarin Balogun | @AdrianJKajumba https://t.co/Rj4shhNg7x— Mail Sport (@MailSport) September 15, 2020 I've asked around about Arsenal's Folarin Balogun. NYC-born, he played for the U.S. U18s once, eligible for Nigeria, & playing for England YNTs. The sentiment for him to play for the US anytime soon is generally pessimistic. One person said "very doubtful" - at least anytime soon— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) September 15, 2020
17 yr old 🇺🇸🏴🇬🇭 tri-nat midfielder, Yunus Musah, makes another start for Valencia today! https://t.co/dLI4uHn5Xk— 🇺🇸 ⚽ east (@eastdeflection) September 19, 2020
'02 US-born goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo played the second half for CA Lanús first team today in their friendly with Arsenal de Sarandí. He started for Argentina at the 2019 U17 World Cup and is reportedly being monitored by the USSF. https://t.co/NHAYKZXQpL— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) September 30, 2020
Awful. Bad news: Malik Tillman is set to miss several months due to a knee injury. We wish him a speedy recovery! #FCBayern @FCBayernUS https://t.co/qMshXH82Rc— Bavarian Football Works (@BavarianFBWorks) October 3, 2020
I guess I couldn’t find the best thread for this... but is Dayne St Clair US eligible? I could have sworn he was
But there's still room for intrigue! St. Clair, born in Canada, was raised in a Toronto suburb. His father is from Trinidad and his mother is Canadian of Scottish descent. https://www.startribune.com/minneso...air-with-its-first-superdraft-pick/504223962/
