There were some tweets by his agent shortly after Saliba showed up for preseason (with his agent) that suggested something was in the works. That coupled with the fact that there has been talk about active contract negotiations with Saka and Martinelli, but not Saliba would seem to support AFC Camden.

However, alternatively, AFC Camden could. be interpreting these facts to conclude a deal with Saliba must be complete. I have no idea how strong AFC Camden’s links to Arsenal actually are.

Of course no 2 players are the same, but I've been finding myself thinking that Saliba could be our VVD.

Not the VVD who's a bit off form now, post-achilles-repair. But the calm, confident, majestic, lock-tight, perfectly-positioned, rarely-put-a-foot-wrong VanDijk who 1-2 years ago was considered the best defender in the league, the MVP of his team, etc, etc.

There are surely things that VanDijk does that Saliba doesn't quite (e.g. vocally organize a defense?) but...

    ya know what I mean?

Edit: I just heard Elliott on AV podcast compare Saliba to VVD. I promise that I wasn't just parroting that. The above post is actually an original thought I had. Not that I have too many of those. ;)

Yeah he’s tall and quick and great in the ball and reading the game

Channeling the Bill Brasky sketch from SNL:

Bill Saliba was 6'14" and weighed 350 pounds if he was an ounce, sculpted like a Greek god. Spent the night before the Derby in a house of ill repute, snorted a mountain of coke, drank all the booze in the place until they ran dry. The ladies of the night didn't want to charge him for their services but he insisted on paying because he's a scholar and a gentleman. Showed up at the Emirates a minute before kickoff, took the pitch, put Kane in his pocket...literally...kept a clean sheet, and scored a hat-trick just for fun. Took the mic and sang "North London Forever" so beautifully that every man, woman and child in that stadium wept. 9 months later, Per Mertesaker was back at the whorehouse signing a dozen bastards up for the youth team. Bill Saliba!

The letters are side by side on the keyboard. IIRC, in the past he has blamed it on fat fingers, an excuse that I have adopted from time to time.

Arsenal Tequila was mentioned in another thread, probably right after the song was birthed? At Selhurst??
