What is Reinaldo Rueda doing about the National Team? When is he going to start naming the players for their next game? Does he have a list that we should know about?

I bet Isaac Mina, Jose Luis Perlaza, or Luis Checa will be on this list. I have a feeling Saritama and Quiroz will be on it. P.Quinonez won't (unfortunately since he's injured). Guagua will probably be on it. MJ Quinonez won't be on it. Felipe Caicedo won't be on it. these are just my predictions. Doubt Marlon De Jesus is on it too but mostly b/c he just got back with the sub-20

    B9m89....DID HE MADE THOSE CHANGES?

those two areas were the only ones on the field were Vizuete was stubborn. One of the things i didn't like about him. There were 4 positions that he insisted on with 4 players- Ivan Hurtado, Giovanni Espinoza (as center backs) and Felipe Caicedo and Cristian Benitez (as forwards). He never wanted to try out something new in the Qualifier instead of those 4 guys. But now seeing how no one has done any better than those 4, he had his reasons.

You wanna know what Rueda has done? the obvious. Replace the two center backs (b/c it's unrealistic to have Hurtado or Espinoza anymore, they're ready for retirement). The only reason Caicedo and Benitez are still up front is b/c of their good seasons in their club teams, they surprised everyone including myself with their seasons. And b/c they're young players with a lot of experience for their age.

Besides that what has Rueda done? He excluded Montero and Rojas from the NT, two players that were brought up by Vizuete. One of them considered ecuador's future star player. What else? he ignored Guerron's good season in atletico Paranaense and we're stuck with players from Deportivo Quito like saritama, minda, etc. In other words he's damaged our midfield which used to be our greatest asset. Now it's our weakness.

Who has Rueda brought to this NT that has had a good influence? It's not Michael arroyo, b/c Vizuete brought Michael into the NT in his last 2 games as coach almost a year ago before Michael went to San Luis. The only one is Fricson Erazo.

As stubborn as Vizuete was with two old defenders and two inexperienced forwards, he still managed to have ecuador play the best futbol i've seen since i've watched them play. The good thing about Vizuete was that he never cared whether players like Montero played in the ecua second division or were too young like Rojas, he still brought them in to the NT. With Rueda, having a good season in your club team is an automatic rejection from the NT. with all the players we have in our country Rueda should be having a field day. At least Vizuete did, and had he coached from round 1 of the qualifier, we would have gone to the WC.

Ivan Hurtado and Edison Mendez had the final say in that National Team. That is why he was there until very late. Vizuete wasn't taken serious by these veteran figures and instead of arguing with them he just let them do what they wanted. You could see it in the games during the qualifiers. I remember there was this one game where Mendez told Vizuete to hold the sub until later and Vizuete did just that.
If Vizuete comes back Hurtado won't be there anymore and Mendez will only have a year left. Vizuete earned the respect from players and fans after Rueda's failure. Can you imagine his support if he takes the U-20 far? They are playing good ball and it reminds me of the way Ecuador played during the qualifiers. I'm sure the U-20 players respect him so this will also help in Vizuete being part of the National Team's future.

Vizuete liked Hurtado though. Remember he was against making Hurtado vanish from the NT just about a year ago? I recall him saying that Hurtado should stay for a little while longer even if it's from the bench (at least until before la Copa America) until the new guys feel comfortable with the team. Vizuete would have renewed this team the correct way. But that was Vizuete's flaw, he didn't have the balls ignore these players and do what he wanted. I remember Guerron leaving games pissed and how I heard he had argued with Vizuete behind the scenes. After a while the only reason Guerron was there was b/c of Mendez (they're cousins). I honestly think that's why Guerron isn't there now. B/c of his behavior last Qualifier.
