Good point. Guppy named just about every starter as a "leader" of the team except Herron.

    This is getting interesting.

Amazing that we take Montiero with Findley still on the board.

3 of Buzz Carrick's 5 "Can't Miss" guys are still on the board (Dalby, Findley, Needham) at 14.

    Is Monteiro GenAdd?

Given that the team has a surplus of SI, [Bedrossian, Thiago, Guerrero, Herron, and (I think) Segares] wouldn't that suggest that Herron is on his way out?

According to the article on mlsnet, he isn't.

MLS Underground says we traded Herron for Soumare.

Interesting to see that 8/13 guys drafted are over six foot (9/14). The physical presence of the players in the league getting larger bodes well for soccer and especially the USNT, at least in my opinion.

Well now, that seems to support what some here have been thinking.

Now let's see if it's true.

    Good catch milicz.

To continue the trade speculation, it seems that the Fire approached the Crew about the trade. Crew were certainly willing to trade down for a veteran player. Sigi has said he wants to bring in an experienced forward (McBride ideally).

Historically the top 2 or 3 picks in a draft have been valued about the same as a full allocation. I would think Herron's value is less than a full allocation. Rolfe's value is in that range. Mapp might be a possibility too as the Crew need help at AM as well as Forward. I wouldn't give an allocation for Mapp however.

If this is right, I think we overpaid for Herron.

Good that is why your team finished last, stupid trades.

Agreed, I don't see any likely scenario where we let go of either Rolfe or Mapp.

I think he was, just not at such a high position. I default to Dave when it comes to drafting. The man knows his stuff.

He was at the combine, just not as highly touted as some of the other guys. With the success we've had in the draft lately, I'm not worried at all.

Are there any GenAdd players left?

Even with the moves made [Herron for Soumare], and the rumored moves to be made [Sanneh/Thornton/Thorrington out], I'd still like to have a bit more flexibility going into the season. Having a few more roster exempt/salary cap exempt players would go a long way towards attaining that goal.

    Now 10/15. Huh.

edit: 10/16, and all but two are US citizens (or soon will be).

I don't know how good Rolfe can be or will be someday, but Herron is clearly a better player at the moment, a game changer. Rolfe did not improve the way I thought he would last year, so I'm not convinced Herron was the right or wrong guy to trade at the moment. We'll see what goes down this year.

Is there any GenAd GK's left? We kinda need a back-up for Pickens. Mahoney was atrocious in his time at Seattle last season.

Needham is the last GA player left.

Seems like the Galaxy are getting everyone they want. Not much delay when they hit the clock.
